What does DDE expire?

Does the year term of the DDE run from when you pay for the card? If I order it in April, and don't activate my AP until May, would the DDE expire the next April?

I ordered mine last week and the confirmation letter states that it expires 4/30/06. So it's 1 year from the time they expect you to recieve it not from when you first use it.
