Thanks! This was helpful. Yeesh though those rooms SERIOUSLY need some updating! Thanks goodness they will be. But the veranda looks book & tea approved to me!

We've stayed in all three verandah types. We actually really loved the Navigator's Verandah for our NYC trip last year because we had 3 stormy nights and we could still sit out on the verandah and watch the storms without getting wet, those are quite cozy. We had a solid white wall the first cruise, loved that, too. It was great sitting out there with the open air above us, if we wanted to look at the view of the ocean or the ports, we could just stand. The regular verandahs are the smallest of the three but nice because you can sit and see the view without obstruction. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Having any one of the three beats not having one at all.
Locks are high and difficult. I had a hard time getting our verandah door open and in much bigger, stronger, and older than a three year old. And if they were out there you would be too. The railings look open but they have plexiglass covering the openings. Having been on a Disney verandah, it's not a concern of mine anymore.
We had 10160 on our last cruise solid wall. I did not find an issue with it. We were on the back of the ship and the veranda was HUGE. We just had to stand up sometimes to actually look over but the larger veranda made up for it.
This is a poorly taken photo of our verandah (#8028 cat 5B) on the Dream. As a PP mentioned, you can see the bars but they are covered with plexi glass.
