What do your Teenagers Eat for Breakfast?

Well, this morning she had the leftover half of a 12" Subway sandwich that she had after softball practice last night. If we have pizza for supper, she will eat left over pizza for breakfast. Other than that, a Fiber Bar (the chocolate and peanut butter flavor) or Cheerios. Occasionaly she will ask for grits and toast or a biscuit with sausage--but not often.

DD18 fixes her own breakfast. Usually it's fresh fruit and a granola bar, but sometimes it's an olive/creamcheese sandwich, cold leftover pizza, graham crackers & peanut butter, or toast with Nutella. Or any combination of the above.

I make my ds15 an egg and cheese breakfast taco, a grilled cheese sandwich, or a turkey bacon and cream cheese bagel every school morning.

My son (11) will eat anything you put in front of him and then some. He is ravenous in the AM.
My daughter (13) eats maybe once a week before school. Otherwise, I consider it a good day when she'll agree to a glass of milk. She just isn't hungry until 9 or so, so she waits for lunch. I bought the Carnation Instant Breakfast mixes for a while. But she lost interest pretty quickly.

What do your teenagers and older children eat before going to school?

DD14 doesn't eat breakfast before school most of the time. She doesn't like to eat immediately after she gets up, and lunch is at 10:40, so it's not like she's going all day before lunch .

Most of the time she'll have a glass of milk or a small can of V8 before she leaves the house. Sometimes she'll have a bagel, yogurt, cereal or a pop tart if she feels like it, but generally, just the liquid.

Weekends are a whole different thing. She likes to have a big breakfast a couple hours after she gets up. French toast, waffles, eggs, cereal, etc.

Leftover pizza, cinnamon toast, peanut butter toast, yogurt, banana, apple, cereal with fruit.

I wish he ate eggs!

I am going to buy him some Clif bars today and see if he will eat those (he is trying to bulk up and needs more protein, but is a picky eater...).

DD13 eats either frozen pancakes or waffles, or a poptart with a 1/2 cup of natural applesauce in the mornings. she has very little time to eat, so it has to be something we can fix fast. on saturdays, she and DH have pillsbury cinnamon rolls, it's their thing. if there's a week where dad's not here early in the morning on weekends, she usually skips breakfast.

DD12 usually has one of the following:

scrambled egg and toast
toaster strudel
frozen waffle with syrup
grits with cheese
mini wheats cereal and milk
fiber bar, chocolate and peanut butter
peanut butter and Nutella sandwich
fresh fruit/yogurt smoothie

It depends on how much time we have in the morning. Sometimes she is downstairs and ready for school 20 minutes before the bus comes, and sometimes I have to throw her some food as she is running out the door for the bus.

DD varies but I keep a variety in the freezer, she has a 20 minute commute with us to school and eats in the car. I also buy her the chocolate milk in the cartons at Costco and she has one every morning:

Toaster Strudel - sweet w/frosting
Breakfast strudel - eggs, bacon & cheese
French toast sticks
Pancakes wrapped around sausages on a stick
Breakfast hot pockets
frozen sirloin cheese burgers (Costco, DD loves these)
Bisquits w/sausage & cheese
Hot pockets - ham & cheese and garlic chicken
Fried egg sandwich

She has also been known to eat leftovers from the night before. I don't really care what she eats as long as she does eat.

DD14 does not like to take up a lot of time in the mornings. She generally eats vanilla yogurt with granola. We make our own granola and she changes up the flavours and dried fruits in it with each new batch (every 4-6 weeks). She will have orange juice with it.

Either a muffin(if I have made them), toaster strudel, poptart or DD18 will eat Luna bars(if I buy them).

Cereal if they have time. DS16 comes down at the last minute so I am usually shoving a couple granola bars or a choc. chip muffin and a glass of milk at him. Sometimes DS14 will have bagels or toast.

my 15yo is a lanky, string bean and has been on a kick lifting weights to build up muscles. he loves this drink called "muscle milk", and has added it to his morning breakfast. it has lots of protein and he said it is very filling, which is pretty amazing since he has a hollow leg and eats anything not nailed down!:rotfl: otherwise he eats scoops of peanut butter, eggos, cereal, toast w/apple butter, plain milk or hunks of any left over meat.

What do your teenagers and older children eat before going to school?

I usually make her an egg bagel thin of some type. Today was an everything bagel thin with egg and sweet potato hash browns.

My ds13 has oatmeal or eggs on school days. On the weekends he's allowed to have poptarts and more "fun" cereal. He actually agrees with this rule -- he realizes he does better and feels better if he has a filling breakfast that will stay with him until lunch. I should add that he is hungry when he gets up -- heck, he's hungry all the time!

cereal with fruit and cheese. eggs and oatmeal with raisins or apple slices. Bagels with peanut butter and grapes...he's working on staying fit so he's trying to balance his diet. We used to offer sugary, dyed cereal on vacation only. We called it 'vacation cereal', lol! Pop tarts are a quick carb snak at our house but cereal is the preferred snack.
