One of ours has to go outside to bark at the sprinklers. Not completely a bad thing except for my DH had the sprinklers set to come on at 3am. Who do you think woke up to let the dog out? Once I figured out why she had to go out at 3am I had DH change the sprinkler scedule so now they come on at 6am. Still early but at least I'm thinking about getting up by then. They don't come on on weekends either.

Do yours have some weird things they have to bark at?

I have 2 shelties. They bark at EVERYTHING. I think they bark at the air they see.

I have collies. They bark at the leaves, the wind, animals, people, the house , trees, the swingset, the pool, birds, rocks, the driveway, the car, did I make my point? LOL Collies bark at everything, or nothing at all!!!

My Dane barks at any and all bugs. Visible or not.

We just moved recently. I miss my "quiet" lake I had before. Now I have a golf course out there. The dogs have to bark at every golfer and cart they see.

I just had them out now. I heard voices on the golf course. Of course, they had to bark at them! :(

My mom has a Pomeranian in her apt. thats connected to our house and that dog barks at ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!!!! Shes barking right now and there is NOTHING to bark at. Once she starts barking our 3 outside dogs start barking and I go crazy!!!!!

Ours barks at CATS mostly & kids on pushbikes

When our lab barks at seemingly nothing, we say that someone must have farted in China:eek: I know that animals are supposed to have some sort of extra keen sensory perceptions (or something) but Geez!

The Lab (loved that other comment), will bark to come in, sometimes at the neighbors dog, and sometimes at the poodle

The poodle.. mercy. he barks at the air! He barks not all the time, but it seems frequent compared to the Lab.

I don't have a dog, but let me tell you, I have never laughed so hard on the DIS as I did now when I read this thread. Each one got funner. (fart in China hah!!!!)

LOL I know what you mean, mine do to, including sprinklers. I have one dog that turns around and looks behind her and barks when she 'lets one' We always die laughing! :rotfl:

We have an Alaskan Malamute -- he "talks" to you ---- unless he wants attention -- then he BARKS!!!!! (pretty loud since he's 150#) only time he barks other than that is when someone is in the older neighbor's driveway. He thinks that he is her watchdog.

Go figure I have a beagle/english fox hound mix...she barks at NOTHING! I mean...she just doesn't bark....lol. I didn't think she knew how to but every once in a while she will let out a small little bark at the boy next door. I was expecting a loud "hound" dog....lol...guess I got lucky.

People (all people who come anywhere NEAR this house-us included), animals (same), the wind, and lots of time we have NO idea why she is barking. We chalk it up to her being a link in the barking chain like in 101 Dalmations. We figure there must be some important dog message going around- or she's just stupid.

I grew up with a sheltie (and my parents now have 2 new ones)...however our first one (who lived a VERY long life) used to bark at falling leaves. Oye - New England in the fall with a yard full of oak trees...yeah - he had fun. :)

My dog doesn't bark too often - she's a brittany spainel - a hunter by nature (and DH's hunting buddy) so when she DOES bark - we take notice.

oh bugs, kids outside, the mail man, a squirel outside, the ceiling fan ( )...other dogs.

She doesn't really have a mean bark - or an annoying bark - but it's funny when we hear it.

However, my mom's 2 shelties? I think they start barking when I make the turn to drive down my parent's street and they don't stop until I've finally entered the house and given them both a cookie. Then they run away and ignore me! heheh

My dog doesn't bark very often. She does bark at ants and her reflection in the door of the stove. It's hysterical to watch her barking at herself.

I dont have dogs but my neighbors do. And OMG, they bark at our poor mailman like you wouldnt believe. The mailman gives them treats so thats the reason.
I can be in my house with the windows shut and I know when hes turning the corner to the street. I call them the mailman alarm. The dogs literally stand up on their back 2 legs(they look like those dog/people on Sesame St) and they go insane! Its gotten to be they flip out even if they see a mail truck. They are hysterical.

WDWnutz, My Lab barks at his reflections in the glass stove front, too! He also barks when he sees his reflection in the windows at night.

TC:cool:
