A solid script would be a great way to start. You can't just slap the audience with so much CGI and Depp and expect a hit. Cameos can only go so far too. The last Pirates movie? Call me Shania, because that don't impress me much.

I just tried to find the latest article article out there to show where the development of the script is at. We should hear more details by December supposedly. Disney is rumored to want to start filming next year. My theory is that the direction they want to go in will depend on if Disney’s CEO’s contract is renewed or not in February.
