What do you use to flavor your water at Disney?

So ok, wow. I'm scared to drink from the fountatins now since everyone seems to be of the unanimous opinion that these tastes terrible. :crazy2:

So for those of you who don't bring/order bottled water, do you just go up to the CS places and get a cup of water then just use that in your brita bottles? I actually have a water bottle that has the filter already on it so I will probably just bring that. Worst case scenario I'll just have to buy bottled water at the park. Ugh..I wonder how much that's gonna cost?

Like I said I like it.

I buy the first two bottles of water when I get there, then I just fill those two up over and over again in the hotel for the rest of the trip.

That's a good idea. We might just have to do this. So would you say that the water from the soda dispensers at the park and hotels are much better tasting than those from the fountains?

I don't drink ANY tap water in FL. I only drink bottled water and even that I am picky. The Nestles bottled water there is Zypherhills water, I believe is the one I like. Public water tastes funky....

What flavors my water? Ice.

I love how everyone acts like FL is a third world country with unsafe water. It tastes *differently* than your water at home. People from FL probably think *your* hometown water is gross. It's not going to make you sick... People drink it every day all of their lives!

Fountain water can be lukewarm & I avoid it bc of the kid spit all over the faucet. Filtered water from a CS is perfectly fine.

It's the sulfur in the water that makes it smell and taste bad. That's why people ask. I grew up drinking water direct from springs in the White Mountains of NH. I won't drink Boston tap water.

The swamp water here in Florida is so gross! That's one of the reasons I really hesitated to make my dreams come true and move to the Disney area.

I have been here over 3 years and still can't, and won't drink the water.

I always buy water in the parks. It's something I have to have. The most important thing for me, so I have to spend money on it.

I do buy the big 1.5 liter Dasani bottles in the select few shops that sell them. They are only $1.00 more than the little 16oz bottles!

There is usually 1 place in each park that has good, filtered non-swamp water, and I know those spots and get cups of water there during the day also.

When I used to vacation at Disney I always took my own water with me in the mornings, then bought more when I ran out.

Sorry I can't give advice on water additives, but I hope this helps!

Nobody has said that the drinking water in Orlando is unsafe. They have just said that it tastes bad. And it actually can make you sick. Different water than what you are used to can upset your GI tract, even though it has 'safe' bacterial levels. This is why I use bottled water for the most part, although we also have a Brita filter bottle.

I avoid any water fountain. You just don't want to know what the bacterial counts on those things are!! And I agree that the filtered water at CS spots is perfectly fine. I just don't want to have to stand in a long CS line just to get a cup of water.

twinings makes cold brew ice teas. just put one of their tea bags in a bottle of water and it brews up a yummy tea. peach and lady grey are my favorites.
i also like true lemon. they make packets of dried lemon to add to water. they have lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit.
no sweeteners in the cold brew iced tea or the true lemon products. however, both are really hard for me to find in my area so i have to buy them online. both ship fairly quickly.

Special K has a "Protein Water Mix" which contains
30 cal.
6g carbs
0g sugar
5g protein
20% DV of B6 & 12
:cool1:

Pink Lemonade is the best. It does not, however, say what it is sweetened with but it's more on the sour side... Not really sweet at all.

Worth a try

!

Where are such spots??? What kind of water is the ice made from? Filtered or unfiltered?

I go to WDW pretty often and I have NO idea what everyone is talking about when they say that the water tastes bad. DH and I have never noticed it. It tastes totally normal to us.

We just take empty water bottles from home and fill them up in the sink of the hotel and then later in the day from the water fountains.

Country Time Lemonade has to go packets that are sweetened with both sugar (the first ingredient actually) and sucralose (which is also called splenda). I don't know why the trend is now to mix sugar and artifical sweetners to drinks that they don't even lable "Light". Hawaiian Punch brand also has splenda in it, and I had no idea at first. I wish the lable itself warned you instead of having to scan the whole ingredient list. I used to just see "sugar" and assume it didn't have artificial sweetners. That said, you probably can't notice the different taste of the artificial sweetner when mixed with sugar too.

I personally use Mio (which is artificially sweetened, I just don't like my kids to drink chemicals - but I do it. :upsidedow)

We buy 1-2 cases of water from Costco or similar for our WDW stays. I like the taste of the plain water, but always bring along a small supply of mix-ins that we end up using about every 3 or 4 bottles. I can second the recommendation for the various TrueLemon products. I like the TrueLemon and TrueLime individual packets, which are nice and tart, with just a little bit of organic evaporated cane juice added. They also have a lemonade mix which has some stevia added, but personally, I don't like the taste of the mix (and I do like stevia otherwise).

I like Wyler's lemonade mix in the small packets (sized to mix into the standard 16.9 oz. bottle of water). They are artificially sweetened but IMHO don't have that awful aftertaste that many artificially sweetened mixes have (I don't personally like Crystal Light).

I refuse to pay Disney prices for water unless it's 95 degrees & I've been without water for so long that I'm about to FAINT. I think they charge like $3 a bottle or something absurd like that. Why don't you just get a small grocery order from Garden Grocer or WeGoShop and get a couple of cases of bottled water if you're that worried about it? It might cost you $55 with the minimum del. amount & delivery fees but you'll save that much over paying Disney prices. You can get snacks, breakfast foods, water, beer etc. and of course the water.

You can also order cases of water from Turner Drug in Orlando, and they deliver for $7 per order. Or try Costco or Staples or WalMart for a water order. Costco is about $8/case of 24 bottles (with S/H included in the cost) and WalMart is about $4 for a case with $0.97 S/H (unless you place a $45 order and then it's free S/H). I refuse to pay $3 a bottle for water in the parks!

RE: water delivered to resorts - there are a few threads about this over on the Resorts board. Also, all the various threads for the specific resorts have details on package delivery, i.e. if there is a cost (convention hotels charge a per package fee), street address, etc.
