I just want to know what other DISers thnk...

My family (3 adults & 3 children) is going to WDW 11/28 - 12/4. We have budgeted very carefully, so we can afford this trip. We started planning before the free dining offer was extended to the end of the year, so we were planning on staying off site because it was less expensive. Now that free dining has been extended, we created a package online to see if the free dining would allow us to afford the complete Disney experiance. The package was still about $500 more than our budgeted trip. I called Disney reservations, to see if there was anything that could be done to get a package that would fit our budget. The response I got from the reservations CM was the last thing I expected from Disney... The CM said, "... either you want the Disney experiance or you don't... Disney isn't cheap sir."

I wasn't sure if anything could be done when I called Disney, but I definately didn't expect such rudeness. A simple "Sorry, sir. There is nothing I can do." would have told me what I wanted to know without leaving this sour taste in my mouth.

Am I wrong?

O-M-G that rude jerk. Did you happen to get his name? I would call and complain in a heart beat. There is no reason for anyone to act rude on the phone when it is their job.

Yikes. While I agree that the CM was unnecessarily rude, I certainly wouldn't let it leave a "sour taste in my mouth"....I would either call back and talk to someone more helpful or I would continue checking out my options online to see what I could find in my price range.

I think that everyone has a bad day every once in a while, and I always assume that I never know the other persons whole story, so I won't automatically assume that person is just a jerk....I'd rather give someone the benefit of the doubt than make an attempt to get them in trouble or get them fired....live, and let live. :flower3:

I do hope that you're able to find a vacation package that fits into you budget. If you're willing to give budget details and trip dates, I'm sure many people around here would be happy to help you find the best possible deal for your family. It's a hobby for many of us...:thumbsup2

Free Dining is really an excellent deal when you have small kids (we have three kids too, same ages!) and it's a ton of food and really adds soooo much to your vacation experience. I would hope you can find an option that works to allow you to see for yourself! :goodvibes

I think I'd just stay with the offsite an make a couple of AP's the kids would like. I've done the FREE dining having to be at a certain place at a certain time to eat every day was not fun for us an it took to much time away from park time.

Plus giving up the space in my condo NO WAY! We are going in Oct an Dec during free dining no way I'd switch either to onsite. Oct visit is in a hotel room we stsyed at this same hotel 3 nights in June before moving to our condo was surprised how nice the rooms was for the price an it's even cheaper for our Oct stay. Got to admit I'm not much on stayin in hotels as I like my space but with a total of 5 trips this calendar year an at least 2 more after the 1st of the year before AP's expire I willing to do the hotel 1 trip.

I used to be one of those ppl who swore onsite was BEST no I really enjoy having more space being able to do laundry in my own unit, cook a hearty breakfast instead of cereal in room every morning.
