We were at WDW last week, and on Thursday afternoon, we were at Epcot, and I decided to utilize a still-unused "child switch" fastpass that we had obtained a couple of days ago at Test Track. So I went to the FastPass entrance, showed the CM my child switch pass, and she let me in. I went straight through into the building. Meanwhile, the standby line extended out of the building. A couple of families that were in the stand-by line saw that I walked right into the building, so they ducked under the rope that separated the stand-by line from the fast-pass line and got into line behind me.
After a few minutes of standing in line, we got to the next CM, who took the fast pass tickets from everyone in the fastpass line. I was curious to see how she would handle the people behind me, who had no passes. She took my pass, and I moved on. I then noticed that she asked for the passes from those behind me, and when they didn't have any, she just ushered them to stand behind her and wait. She then surveyed the loading groups, saw there was some room in one particular group, and then proceeded to load those individuals who had cut into the fastpass line -- even though they had no fastpasses -- into that group!
I was a bit shocked. I thought she would have told them to get back into the standby line, as they had been doing in the first place. Instead, she rewarded them by loading them along with fastpass holders, even though they didn't have any passes.
I didn't think this was the correct move on the part of the CM. However, I'm also not sure that sending them to the back of the standy-by line would have been rigth either. What do you guys think?
