I think this is a great idea--not only for the adults but also for the kids. I can't think of one child who would want to eat at this restaurant when they could be eating with Mickey or Pooh. My son would hate it there and I would never dream of taking him to a place that is that expensive and high class. he's pretty well behaved but he's also three and sometimes meltdowns happen with three year olds.

A few years ago, I would have jumped at the chance to eat at V&A's. Now I'm all about watching my son enjoy his trip. I don't want to miss a moment of his experience. Because of this, DH and I won't be eating at V&A's either--and that's fine with me.

I don't think I would ever take my child there BUT I do not feel that they should NOT continue this onto other restaurants. My son just turned 5 and he knows how to act at dinner, I have never had an issue with him out and if I did, we would be out of that place in a nano second. That being said though IF I ever wanted to go, there would be nothing to do with him. I would not leave him with a sitting service. It that does come into play when I choose where to vacation.

On the ship we have to miss out on Palo since we cannot take him. I am not leaving him somewhere with people we don't know. The last time we cruised, he was not 3, but potty trained, but couldn't go in the kids club since he was not of age, I am not sure at that age I would even be comfortable with that, older, possibly, but to us vacations are about family, so why would I want to do something that he couldn't.

I don't have any problems with it at all...I actually think it is a good idea. It's in a resort, not like it is a park restaurant.
There are a lot of couples who go without children (regular vacations and honeymoons) and i think it is nice that they can go and have an Adult meal.

again, I think it is great how disney caters to so MANY different types of families!! hubby and I ate at Whispering canyon and O'hanas....without kids ourselves... and SO much enjoyed the antics of the cute children. I was SO thrilled to be in the same boat of It's a Small World with a family with little kids for the first time!
There are numerous character dining experiences, fun dining (hoop de doo is great!!!). but please leave a few dining experiences for those of us who spend our money 2-3X a year and still enjoy adult dining. I waited years to afford dining at Caifornia Grill. when finally we could afford to go, we could not enjoy the fireworks at the viewing deck. we could not hear the music and narration, due to the children running back and forth and screaming, due to lack of parental supervision. perhaps it was just a "bad night". just not the "romantic" night we felt we had paid a lot of money for. when our children were young, they knew when they could "run free" and when they were to be quiet.
ps. don't get me wrong.. there were many parents with well-behaved children... only a few, who ruined it for all the rest.
I hope disney will continue to include OPTIONS for adults only. (or older children)

in just 4-5 years, we will be the grandparents "babysitting" (ie, enjoying) the the princess buffet in norway while our son and his wife enjoy a more quiet, romantic dinner out... options for everyone!!!! disney does it SO WELL!!!

I'm torn.

Part of me finds it offensive. I have enough common sense to know when my kids need to leave (and we do leave anywhere when it is a problem) and where they shouldn't belong in the first place. I do have a child under 10 who would be perfectly fine in any fine dining restaurant. But then there are people who don't have common courtesy and need some help in determining smart behavior. Plus, I have two others who I would never dream of taking there--recipe for disaster.

Part of me says, it WDW. It's a place for kids and families. If you don't want to be around kids and families, go somewhere else. And then part of me says adults need their spots too and WDW isn't just for kids and families. And it is a fine dining restaurant, or so I read--I've never actually been there. Then it's in a hotel and not a resort.

I guess basically I don't care, but if it starts to spread elsewhere, I'd be more upset about it. Adults on vacation deserve adult things, even with the kids in tow.

I agree with most. I never even thought of taking my young children to that restaurant. I don't think they would enjoy it there at all.

i think i'm the only person so far who didn't already assume that there was an age restriction for v&a's. dh and i ate there a couple of years ago and loved it. we also have a 6mo dd and we know it will be a very long time before we go back. it's a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere - i would never dream of bringing a child there for dinner.

as for this spreading elsewhere in disney - i don't think it's appropriate in the parks but i'm definitely ok with some restrictions at the resorts - if there are accomodations for families as well.

yes - disney is largely for families - but it is also for everyone - so let them cater to everyone.

I think it is fine. I would not pay $125 for my kids to eat anyways so I can understand if someone is paying $125 for a dinner where they would not want children there.

Disney World Restaurant Bans Children​

Beginning this week, children under 10 are no longer welcome at Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Victoria & Albert's is Walt Disney World's only restaurant with an AAA five-diamond rating.

Makes perfect sense. That type of venue is NOT for children...mine or anyone elses. I know I certainly wouldn't pay that kind of money for my children to be bored out of their minds !!

If I ever paid that much to go out to dinner, I would very upset if I had to listen to screaming children or see children running around. I think it is a great idea!!!
