I got a quote yesterday for a 7 night stay at Art of Animation in a family suite 2 adults, 3 juniors and one child with 7 day water park and more tickets, free dining the entire stay check in date December 21st-28th for $6800. So this seem reasonable for the family size and season of travel?
We have been on DCL 6 times but would like to get away from that and bring the kids to the parks once before they "out grow" Disney (the older 2 are already on the verge of wanting Universal over Disney).
I want the experience and convenience of staying onsite and the extra magical hours will be a great perk for us. I think the "free dining" will help decrease our travel stress some especially with 4 kids and the offer dates happened to fit into our school break schedule this year.
I know it is crazy this time of year at WDW and I checked the other times we could travel and they are all peak times so I thought we could use it as a really great Christmas present for my kids who already have too much "stuff" and don't really need a tree full of presents. What are your thoughts?

Sorry for the double post my computer was acting wonky. The first post would not let me finish typing.

Since you are getting free dining you wouldn't need to cook in a family suite. Two rooms at a value or POR that sleeps 5 may be less. The price seems a little high for me.
A guide I use is $125 per person per day including tickets, lodging and travel.

I would need a room that sleeps 6 so I think my only option besides AoA is getting 2 rooms. So you use the $125 per day guide even during peak season when rates are usually higher? We would be staying during Christmas so would $125 per day still be a good guide line to use for an onsite stay during that time?

If this is for just the QSDP, the number is high. If you've upgraded to the DDP, then the number seems to be in line with what you're getting. I hope that the TA put a courtesy hold on the reservation. I'm not seeing availability at AoA for those dates online.

BTW, rack rates at Christmas time are crazy high. That's what is making your price so high in comparison with what the PP uses as her measuring stick.

Yes it is for the upgrade to standard dining. I asked about 2 rooms at a moderate. TA did not bother to look and told me it would cost "twice as much" so I looked myself and found Coronado springs 2 standard rooms with the same tickets, free dining, dates for $7400. Not sure if I should do this instead. I am worried about the comfort of my 14, 13 and 10 year olds on the pull out beds at AoA. I could always bring a blow up bed for one of the 4 kids but would rather not especially for that price.
Yes she did put a hold on it and I actually paid the small deposit today but now am wondering if I need to change it.

Compared to DCL, it must seem like a bargain!

You are going at the busiest and most expensive time of the year. I would do your numbers again to compare AOA and 2 rooms at a moderate. AOA's rack rate is $514 per night or $580 with tax. You'll have to add $96 per night to upgrade to the regular DDP, so you're up to $676 per night plus park passes. A standard view at CSR is $290 per night, or $327 with tax. Two nights should be $654 and that includes the DDP. Two rooms at a moderate only saves you about $20 per night but you'll have more room, lusher grounds and better pools.
