Hi,

Tomorrow is the day for me to call to make ADR's for our Sept. trip to WDW. We've pretty much decided on everything except TS at Disney Studios. I've been thinking Mama Melrose, but we've never been there. Has anyone been there? What do you think of it?

Thanks for your help! :goodvibes

I booked the fantasmic pakage for our sept trip so I would be interested to know too.

I booked this for my sister for her Spring Break trip a few weeks ago. She loved it! She's a picky eater, and even she said that the food was great. She also enjoyed the seats for Fantasmic.

You will get very differing views on Mama Melrose on this site. People will tell you that you can get better Italian near your home. We have gone the last three visits we have been there and really enjoyed it. We had terrific service and very good food. Is there better Italian? Yes, there is. But this is a fine meal in our eyes. My DH loves the chicken parmesan and I have had the four-cheese flatbread and the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo with clams, calamari and shrimp and enjoyed them both. There are not many options with the Fantasmic package. We do not like Hollywood & Vine at all. Our experiences has been that the restaurant is dirty, very poor service, lukewarm food and takes forever to replenish when something runs out at the buffet. We also did not like Brown Derby when we went there. Many people swear by the grapefruit cake and my DH hated it and he is a huge dessert eater. They also swear by the Cobb salad, but we are not big on Cobb salads. We've thought of trying it again but just can't see using two table service credits for it.

We have been to MM a few times for lunch, and each time the food and service was great. We order a few salads and a few flatbreads to share when we go. It is the only ts restaurant we will dine at DHS and it is only 1 credit.

Our meal at Mama Melrose was our worst meal at WDW!!! The service was very poor and the food was awful!!! We had a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) and we all tried different things so that we could all share. Nothing was good!! We were all so disappointed. We also ate at Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Tiime. Both of those were 110% better than Mama Melrose. If it were me, I'd skip Mama's and go somewhere else.

I agree. I ordered the spaghetti; simple enough right? Apparently not. It took forever to get to the table and the best part- it came out cold. I love Sci-Fi though.

We ate there in January and liked it! Not the best food I've ever had but it was good. We did the Fantasmic package and you can only choose from H&V, MM and Brown Derby which is 2TS. H&V is not very good and we didn't want to use two TS for BD so we picked MM. I would definitely go again if I were booking a Fantasmic package. If you are just looking for a TS restaurant, I have hread great things about 50's Prime Time.

we went in december and did not like it. we were seated right by the hallway and the kitchen, it was loud and busy. our server was AWFUL. worst disney server i have EVER had. food was just "ok" like you would get from a loacl chain restaurant. we almost missed fantasmic b/c service was SO SLOW

My sister and I ordered the chicken parm and my husband ordered a flatbread. The food was delicious BUT.. very, very slow service (don't know if it was just a bad server or what) and he brought only one chicken parm, the other order was another chicken dish which we didn't order .. so my sister gave me the chicken parm and waited until they corrected her order so my husband and I were almost done eating until they brought her lunch out. Needless to say even the food was good we won't go back for awhile.

We hated it! But, that is not to say that you won't enjoy it. I always say if it is somewhere that you may want to try...give it a shot. Hopefully you will have a better experience than we did!

What we did not enjoy was...THE FOOD! We had three in our party, and all of us had lousy food. I had the veal, and I know DH had some kind of chicken. I forget what DS had, but I do remember we all disliked it very much!

The service was also terrible!

We won't be returning here....ever, but I have read reviews that actually are good...so, you just never know. I just thought I would share our experience with you. Good luck!

GREAT SERVICE but the food wasnt good at all. Flatbread's & pasta dish werent good at all... We were in search of tums for the rest of the day :(. I cant see us going back there on any upcoming trips. Sadly DHS has limited places to eat...hoping they get better choices in the future.

We eat there every trip and we have never had a bad meal there. We love Mama Melrose:thumbsup2

We have eaten there the past three trips. We always like it. The service is on the "slow" side at times, but in my opinion Disney's version of slow is the normal speed everywhere else....they tend to rush you at most WDW restaurants, but I like that MM is slower because you can relax and take your time. And the wait staff has always been great, very funny and friendly every time we've eaten there. You should definitely try it!

We eat there just about every trip and it does not disappoint. Its one of our favorites. :thumbsup2

We really enjoy MM and I love the flatbread. We've been there several times and keep going back. :goodvibes

I'm sorry, we ate there for the Fantasmic package last Oct and it was the worst meal I've ever had in all of WDW. I'd never go back. But again, everyone likes different things. This was just our experience there. I see so many restaurants get bad reviews that we've really enjoyed!

We ate there last May for the Fantasmic package and didn't really care for it. It was our first meal at Disney ever! I was soooo glad after we went to all of other ADR's that they were sooo much better! I contemplated doing the Fantasmic package this Sept at another restaurant, but others on the DIS convinced me I probably would not need it b/c the crowd levels are low during that time. So, we are going to skip it and maybe eat at the Boardwalk somewhere or just stick to Counter Service.
