It both scares and intrigues me. As a person who is trying to be more health-conscious, I hate everything about it. As a good old Southern girl raised on fried food, I want two!

Is that the sandwich that doesn't have bread, just two fried chicken patties & something in the middle?
If so, it looks nasty to me but I'm not big on fast food.

eeeww, that sounds gross

With THAT much fat and that many calories, I think I'll stay away. I am BY NO MEANS a 'health freak' when it comes to eating, but I do believe everything is ok in moderation. THAT SANDWICH has NOTHING to do with moderation!!! I saw someone eating one and I was grossed out.

Yup and I'm with you nothing about it sounds good at all...

Sounds awesome, but I am 43 and will not be eating one. Maintaining a healthy weight is too difficult at this age without doing something stupid like that... :lmao:

It comes grilled too :lmao:. For that "healthier" two slabs of chicken.

I'll join the majority, I have not tried it and do not want to.

We eat KFC a few times a year, as a treat, but that "sandwich" just sounds really, really bad.

I know the manager of our local KFC and he said it's a big seller for them, so must be a lot of people are trying it. He said he had to get on one of his employees as he was double breading the chicken. That would add even more calories than it's supposed to have. Yikes!

Sorry, I don't buy that for a second. They can post what they want. There is no way that the Original Recipe version has less that 1,000 calories.

According to Huffington Post, the Vancouver Sun did an independent calorie analysis for the "Double Down" and concluded the "sandwich" has 1228 calories.

"Independent labs are estimating that it has around 1,200 calories and over 50 fat grams, based on what’s in the other KFC sandwiches,” says Men’s Health food and nutrition editor Matt Goulding, co-author of “Eat This, Not That: Best and Worst Foods in America.”

“What you’re looking at is a sandwich that has more than half the calories you should eat in a day, topped by a sauce that is no doubt some deleterious mix of oil, eggs and a bunch of food additives. The only thing you’re doubling down on here is waistline expansion.”

Figured we needed a picture. I never heard of it. I don't eat fried foods so this is out for me.

I tried one today, in fact. Deadly, but tastes pretty good. The fact that it has no bun doesn't make it any better or worse, white bread isn't that good for you either. I am going to go for a brisk walk to try to burn some of it off.

I haven't tried it and I never will but oh, boy, I REALLY want one.

Actually, they cannot post "what they want". My guess is that (thanks to some FDA rule), the sandwich is technically 2 servings, since a serving is probably one chicken breast. Doubled, you would be getting close to the other analyses.

In moderation, it's not bad for you. Honest. Your body can accomodate the rare overindulgence. The problem is that lots of people routinely eat far more than they need, and not enough fruits & vegetables, and fail to get anywhere near the minimum physical activity that they should.

FWIW, I probably would not eat one. I worked at a KFC for a few years, back in high school and college, and I haven't wanted fried chicken since. (Note due to fried rat stories or anything, but having essentially unlimited chicken left me feeling ambivalent about it, at best.) Otherwise, I would certainly indulge - probably no more than five or six times a year, however.

ETA - forgot it had bacon. I don't care much for bacon, so I'm even less likely to eat one.

The amount of calories is the least of my worries when there's that much sodium.
