Last Month I went to Charleston SC for a family Reunion. I have to say after talking to my friends about Charleston I had to go and see the City for my self. I was impressed. Charleston has so much to see and do. I did not know that Porgy from Porgy & Bess lived in Charleston. I got to see folly Island and swam in the beach. We went on a Dinner Cruise on the Boat. What was your thought of Charleston SC?

I have never been there but from what you posted, I would love to visit!

I have been to Savannah, the sister city to Charleston, but never Charleston. I will make it there next time I hit Savannah. It's a couple hour drive between the two. Savannah has a bit more of a sea-faring, pirate, haunted, relaxed party vibe, whereas Charleston seems a bit more colonial and somewhat more formal.

I LOVE Charleston! My parents retired from NY to live on the South Carolina coast about 1.5 - 2 hours north of Charleston so I have visited it a few times just for day trips. The architecture is wonderful, gardens are beautiful, Calhoun Mansion is a MUST SEE, and it's just the cutest little town. I would love to stay for a longer trip and do some ghost tours, etc. I also love to take pictures there and have quite a few hanging around my house. The old houses with their earthquake bolts and the wrought iron ... I'm a sucker for wrought iron!

Definitely go if you haven't been :)

I love Charleston, too. It has a beautiful, historic feel to it. I love to walk around and peak in the gates in the properties to see the gorgeous gardens tucked in everywhere.

I live a few hours away from Charleston, and really like it. It can be a little expensive, so I tend to visit Savannah more because of that. I think there's more to do in Savannah :-p But Charleston is still such a beautiful city, and would go at the drop of a hat! HTH!

Everyone I know who's been there has said it's wonderfull. Everyone absolutely loves Charleston. I'm not sure if it's necessarily a place to take the kids, but I know my wife and I look forward to going there some day.

Charleston is great! We lived there for 20 years before getting transferred to upstate South Carolina. Loads of great restaurants, things to do, sites to see, shops to shop in Charleston. There are also a ton of historic places to see. If you like to eat, Charleston is the place to visit!

I think the only thing I don't miss is the bugs (and the 1000% humidity). If you go anytime between late April - October you need to be sure to take bug spray. The gnats are vicious at times! And look out for the palmetto bugs... They aren't nearly as cute as they sound! :rotfl:

, we live on DI and love it!!! Charleston is what you make it and it can be charming and very informative at the same time. :flower3:

I've been working here for almost a year and I've only seen the airport, the hotel and the office - sounds like I need to get out more.

Oh, except for 225 Grill - awesome restaurant.
