That's for sure!Well I think it is not just kids that learn.
I had played computer games like Myst, but I'd never been in any online multi-user environment; not even chat. When I first joined VMK I had not played computer games nor any video games except mario brothers racing and golf lol.
I avoided everything except crashing boats on Jungle Cruise for almost a year.I had no clue how to play games and so bad the first crown I earned was by sticking littlebelle on the jungle cruise and letting her just ride around.
Woot for building! I like to think that working out "room-engineering puzzles" helps keep our brains young. It gave me confidence to try new things and found I really enjoyed building.

I'm faster, even if I still don't have the proper finger placement down.Yes it helped my typing too. Unfortunately my spelling has gotten worst. Still want to type on instead of one too instead of two lol.
I used to be terrified to go against any of the kids in the games. Now at least I'm on a par with some of them.So it took a game like VMK to get me out of the old and lame club to one who plays a pretty awesome game of mansion![]()

Yes, VMK can really teach you patience. From moms point of view:
* Ive developed patience and understanding of younger dudes
It also makes something very unusual possible; communication between players of all ages. I started out being skeptical about how this would work. But now I can't say how much appreciation I have for our younger players, and how much I value their friendship and insight.
* Ive learned that no matter how older peeps say "oh hes doing that for attention" that they actually need way more attention.

*Sigh* Sometimes I wish we could just wear big warning signs with "Do not say (xyz) in VMK or you could be banned!"* I've also learned that its not just about keeping yourself safe on the internet....its about watching out for your friends to.

I must say I've learned some surprising things about myself in the process of playing VMK, both good and bad. The game has a way of bringing out our values; especially about how we deal with the "stuff" in our lives. I'm sure it does the same for anyone who plays, no matter what their age.
