What do you think about TPing?

On my way to taking DS to school this week, I saw 5 houses that were TPed. It looks like a big mess because it was raining and now it's all mush. I just read our community paper and there were some people writing in about it. One woman was adamantly against it, mentioned where her daughters went to school and even signed her name. I suspect she'll be a victim pretty soon.

So what do you think? Is TPing all in fun or should the "vandals" be punished? Did you ever TP as a kid and would you let your kids do it? I don't have a problem with it, but I would hope that the kids would do it when there is no rain in the forecast.

i hate it! i did not do it when i was a teenager and i would not allow my kids to do it.

it's such a waste: a waste of toilet paper, and a waste of whomever has to clean it up's time.

I did it a few times as a teenager. It can range from harmless fun (we nearly always did it on a night when we knew it wasn't going to rain) to pretty cruel.

As long as it's not my house, I'm all in favor of it!:teeth: Actually the High School near where I work got hit last night and they did a really good job on it!:earseek: There are a lot of trees on campus.::yes::

I did it when I was a teen, but my friends and I stopped short of what most of the kids did, which was to spray it with the hose if someone left the hose outside....

We had a case here is Metro Atlanta several years ago. Three 15-year-old classmates at Sprayberry High in Cobb County died while riding in a car driven by a 16-year old classmate. They crashed into a tree while fleeing the irate father of a student whose yard they had rolled with toilet paper.

As they say, it's all good fun until someone gets their eye put out.

I don't know what would be worse...TPing or the 25 dozen eggs we threw off of a hated neighbors house when we were rotten teenagers. LMAO (ooh that smell of eggs would have to be worse than TP (unless the TP was used...ooooohhhhhhh)

We used to do it too, until our principal asked to local stores to call the police and tip them off if kids were buying toilet paper. We found a way around it though. We used streamers. The police considered it "decorations" so they would'nt bust you. Also we could get pretty creative with all the colors.

I love it! :bounce:  Where I grew up it was all in good fun (and some of us "creative" types utilized many other things besides just toilet paper :teeth: ). Parents were all okay with it, didn't discourage it at all and even participated at times. ::yes:: Truly some of my very best memories!! :):):)

Yes it seems around town there has been alot of TP and it is pretty yucky with the rain. But also I grew up in a family that my 80 yes I said 80 year old grandmother tped my aunts house for her 4oth bday! And for 80 she tped better than most 16 year olds she even got it on the roof!! So I guess I am of the type sure go ahead and enjoy but also offer to help clean it up if you get caught. And also never steal the last roll from the house because it will come around to bite you ;):p

My nephew and his group of friends would tp each others houses. The next morning the would all meet to do clean up while the parents made breakfast.:teeth:

I TP'd quite a bit as a teen, so did my sister. She was a cheerleader so every year before homecoming they would TP all the football players houses and the coaches. The seniors also always TP'd the school before the first and last day. As long as there is no vandalism (no I don't consider TP'ing vandalism) I don't see any problem with it. It does stink if it rains, but we never did it when it was supposed to rain.
I would let my kids do it, but I doubt they will. We've lived here for almost 6 years and I have never seen one house TP'd so I'm assuming kids around here really don't do it much, if at all.

It was not an 'in thing' when I was young, actually never heard of it till we had kids. But as they both got into the teen years, high school, it was a fun thing, a relatively harmless outlet of energy. The parents of the kids all went along with it, we have pictures each time we got TP'd here, and always enjoyed it. Dry or wet, it disappears quite quickly.

I've never done it or had it done to me, but I can't imagine I'd like it if I had to clean up the mess. ;)

When I was in high school, some guy friends of mine bought a couple dozen eggs and egged the agriculture teaher's house. Well they were stupid enough to leave the cartons behind...and on them, was stamped the convenience store name where they were bought. All he had to do was go to the store and ask who bought them. Can't do anything "fun" in a small town.

For punishment, their parents were called and they had to mow the teacher's church lawn for several weeks (that was something he did for the church...and it's a big "all-day-mow" lawn!!)

If it's done in fun, I think it's fine, kind of a coming-of-age thing. But if it's done to be mean or done to someone to hurt them, then no.

Anything's better than getting egged, though!

They do it to sports players here too. ::yes::

Yep our homecoming was last week! DS is a senior football player so we went through the TPing of the HS and getting our house done as well.

We came home from the game fri night to what looked like a full blown snow storm in our front yard.

They also took the lawn furniture and put it in the driveway, used the free auto trader mag as confetti, and sprayed "Go Meat" in shaving cream on the driveway too!

DS had to clean some of it up before he could go to the dance on sat.

Never did it, never saw it done anywhere around here either, so maybe it's just not the thing to do here...because I don't even hear anyone talking about it all. I do know on Halloween night, the store I work at limits the amounts of eggs that we will sell to younger people (teens, young adults). Either one I would be very upset if it was done to my house.

Now at work, when someone is leaving to go to a new job, (at least on the overnight shift) they will get their car shrink wrapped.

My son is a Senior football player and we've been "spirited" before every home game this season. I liked it:

This TPing POed my DH a bit! So the last time they (it's the cheerleaders) did it, several players happened to be AT my house, and they HELPED the girls and the TP was ALL the way to the TOP of the tree! SOME of it is still stuck up there!

Here's a close up of the shaving cream messages:

See the faded messages on the walk way from the previous Spiriting?? LOL!! Shaving cream stains! It's fading a bit but it's still very visible!

ETA: I forgot to ask them what was up with the plastic cutlery stuck into the grass?????

One of the most bizarre sights we've ever seen was the morning DH and I awoke to find our entire yard (an acre of palms and citrus trees),white split rail fence surrounding entire property and most of house TPed in BLACK paper! Yes, BLACK!!! It was his "big" birthday and his friends had some fun! :rotfl: :rotfl:
