What is your oppinion on The Passion of the Christ??

I did not see it but i here a lot of people saying that it is a very powerfut movie and a lot to handle. One person said it could almost change your life and look upon Jesus Christ's death. I am not sure if i am going to see it but i would definitely like to.:earseek:

I have no real opinions on it, I do know there is a lot of talk about it, and know I won't be seeing it.

The plan is to go see it this thursday. I am looking forward to it.

i am not going to see it. the only thing i remember was that i read somewhere that someone was struck by lightening not once but TWICE during the making of this movie!

Dan and others who aren't going to see it. just curious, why not. I haven't decided yet.

I was planning on taking my 14 y.o. son to see it, but after hearing what a few co-workers had to say, I'm rethinking my decision.

I've heard that it is a very profound experience; grown men crying, people crying in their parked cars afterward, etc. It's got people talking, and that's a good thing. I think it also has people coming back to their faith, whatever that may be, and I also think that's a good thing.

Mel Gibson said "we live in a spiritually bankrupt society" and I couldn't agree more.

My 13 y.o.'s bestfriend saw it and he said that he almost vomitted during the most brutal parts of the film.

I'll be seeing it with a friend from work, my DH doesn't want to see it, he'd rather wait until it's released on DVD without the subtitles. I think it's because he knows he'll be upset, and heaven forbid should he show emotion during a movie.

I won't be seeing this movie because I've heard it's very gory, and I can't watch stuff like that.

Saw it yesterday. It is one of those things in life that defy words...there are no words. Took my almost 13 year old and my not sure what he believes husband. And 22 others. What a blessing...I very highly recommend it.

And for whatever it's worth, I do NOT watch bloody movies (only movie I ever walked out on was "We Were Soldiers").

This isn't your reason for not going to see the movie is it?

Saw it yesterday.

I am not a religious person, but it is difficult not to be moved by this film. The performances were outstanding, the emotions were so real.

I admit the violence was fairly graphic...but it was the human suffering that left me more emotionally charged than anything.

I do highly recommend this film.

Interesting.....The Actor who played Jesus Christ, his initials are J. C. He was struck by lightning twice during the movie. When the people were hitting him with whips during one scene, the metal plate he was wearing on his back slipped, so he actually got hit once, I think they said it took lots of stitches!!!!!

in a sold out theater at 10 o'clock on a Saturday morning. Yes, it is horribly gruesome and bloody -- but a much more accurate portrate of what the Lord went through than our lily-white, sanitized church versions. During the scourging scene, my friend and I were weeping. I can't speak for her, but I was weeping not at man's inhumanity, but at the fact that my sins put Him there.

It's utterly convicting, but that being said, I don't think I could sit through it again -- too draining.

For the record, Jim Caviezel said he was struck by lightening once. He did get hit during the scourging, he dislocated his shoulder, had hypothermia and pneumonia. Said he was tempted to quit, but knew he has to see it through. He made it by the grace of his faith. (I have never heard of someone being struck by lightning not needing immediate medical attention)

Me, my DH, son, 24, daughter 18, and daughter's boyfriend, 20, saw this movie Thursday night. I had no intentions of going to see it, but my son asked us to go with him, so we did. It was one of the most intense two hours of my life. I cried during almost the entire movie. How I felt is almost undescribable. Sad, angry, hopeful, depressed, moved beyond words. The acting was absolutely incredible. The reality of the movie spellbinding. There wasn't a sound to be heard at the end of the movie. Hardly anyone got up to leave right away, just sat there in stunned silence. I am sooo glad I saw this movie. It has reaffirmed my faith, made me realize just what Jesus Christ went through for mankind. I was raised Catholic, drifted from the church over the years for various reasons, some being that I didn't agree with alot of the Catholic church's teachings. This movie has not made be want to reaffirm my Catholic faith, but my faith in Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian. Yes, the movie is extremely violent, but it has to be to depict what Jesus Christ endured. I don't regret seeing this movie, nor does my family. If you have the opportunity to see it, I recommend you do, but I don't think I would bring children under 12.

If you believe in God, then you also believe that Satan exists. I am absolutely convicted that Satan did not want this movie to come to fruition. The negative things that surround it, including injuries to the actors are not of God and I'm sure you get my drift. :) What's amazing is God was faithful and that the injuries were not severe or life threatening and people learned amazing lessons from their happening.

I haven't seen this movie yet. I was the vocalist at a friend's father's funeral yesterday and I wanted to wait until after that. I didn't want the emotions of this movie to come back at me while I was singing.

DH and I will be seeing it this week. He's taking the afternoon off.

<font color=navy>Someone else working on the film was struck twice by lightening. Jim Caviezel said that he was standing next to that person the second time he was struck, and Jim was also struck. Neither of them needed medical attention.

During the scourging, he had his hands tied to a post, and there was a board w/metal about a foot behind him to protect his back. Mel G. told the Centurian to make it look real, and when he really swung hard, the whip (cat-o-9-tails?) went over the board and bit into Jim's back. He said (on the Jay Leno show) that the pain was so intense he fell, and Mel was shouting at him to get up because that wasn't part of the scene, not knowing that Jim had been hurt. The second time he was hit he got a 14-inch gash on his back, and the pain was so excruciating that he couldn't breathe. He fell and couldn't get up because of loss of breath. The shots weren't used in the movie because when he fell you could see part of the board.

I just think that he got hit twice and pain was so bad. This was nothing compared to what Jesus went through. Truly humbling.

My almost 15 yr old sees it tomorrow @ her school. She's rarely cries, and said she's taking a bunch of tissue because she knows she'll be crying. She and some girlfriends are going to sit next to each other so they can support each other.

Not sure when my ds & I will have time to watch the movie ourselves, though we plan to.

I definately want to see it, but do not know yet if I can bring myself to see it on the big screen. I have a hard enough time getting through the reading of the passion every year. Seeing it graphically played out larger than life- not sure yet. I will definately get the DVD when it comes out so if I haven't seen it by then I can see it in my own home.

For anyone who saw it, do you think it would be acceptable for a 12 year old like me? I can hanle blood and gore. I think I should see it but I don't think too many people under 12 could handle this movie. It is a lot to take in for someone with a young mind who doesnt know the real violent truth about Jesus' death.:scared1: :worried: :scared:

<font color=navy>If you do go see it, and I'm serious - watch it with someone who can be there emotionally for you - it's that intense. My kids have a lot of friends who've seen it, and they've recommended the same thing.

Of course, since it's rated R, I'm sure you'll be watching it w/adults you know. :)

Sean, you sound like a mature young man, so I think it is acceptable for you to see it, preferably with a close adult.
