Well I'm very glad to hear everything worked out.

Evee is a really cute name! I personally love it!!

But i understand about the name change.

My names Caitlin and I went by 'Caitie' for most of my younger life. I'm now 16 and think 'Caitie' sounds too much like a little girls name. I've asked people to start calling my 'Cait'. But all my friends who've known me since I was young and always called me 'Caitie' still continue to do so.

Also one of my friends Cassy decided she wanted to change it to 'Cassi' (don't really know the logic behind that.) but anyways. It's working for her =]

Update - 12/29/06 - Everything seems to be running smoothly with Eevee and her new name. I haven't heard of any further comments from stepfather-to-be. She and I discussed the possible ridicule she might face about the Pokemon connection, and I suggested that if someone asks her if it's a Pokemon name that she just answer something like, "that's just the way I spell it" - or "I like it spelled like that, because it's the same frontwards and backwards". She doesn't seem concerned - and is even looking forward to moving to a new school.

i am glad it worked out.

my real name is Elizabeth but i dont like it, so at first i went by Beth, then Lizzy-at the time my one friend called my Liz-, currently i am spelling it Lyzzi, but next year when i get into middle school, i'm going by Lyzz. (*i am a fan of y's and z's as u can see *)

back on topic, i have been a pokemon fan, and i have always like Eevee. from how ur granddaughter sounds, i think it fits her nicely.
