What do you think about picking teams in gym class?

That was you. Not every kid would relate the same thing.
Sorry, not following what you're referring to. Whether the last kid should be "argued" over who has to take them? If there's an argument, that's where the teacher should step in and say "who has the next pick? They get the last kid."

Other kids HATE team sports. Why should they have to do something they hate and those like you don’t? A mixture of the two could solve that. Kids need to learn how to be active when they don’t have a group.
If I gave the impression that those activities shouldn't be done because I don't like them, I apologize. I thought you were suggesting the "non team" activities for the full year and that's what I was reacting to. I said before, I feel PE should be multiple sports/activities (team and solo). Maybe 1-2 weeks for each one. Learn the rules, some basic skills, then play the rest of the time.

The part about it not bothering you to be picked last.

Hey, LuvsJack.... these people are out there. This kind of satisfaction with children's humiliation and pain, as actually mandatory and 'a good thing'.
(even when after being asked again "what is good about it? Where is the real and true benefit", they can come up with nothing.)
It is what they are.
They are what they are.

Yes, we know that there is just no way that it could ever be a good thing to place kids in a mandatory situation where on a continual basis, they are publicly showed that "Hey, you suck."

This is in a situation where children are supposed to be taught and encouraged to participate and learn, at whatever level they were born with.
Not beaten down.

We have called it out... We have called it out for what it is.
That is all one can do.
Now, LuvsJack, I would encourage you to just let it go.

Even for you the bolded is quite a reach.

Oh, always, the ultimate in being dramatic and taking things to the next level. Can't there just be a discussion?

Ohhh, Boradwalk, that could be a good possibility too.
But, that hasn't been mentioned here, that I am remembering right now at the moment.

Just "Ohhhh life isn't fair... this'll teach'em".
Or, how about fail spectacularly.
Or, how about the excuse/justification of Team Building...
(IMHO, true team building should be about taking a given group of people and working together with the stengths and weakness of each one to attain the best outcome. Not, pick the 'best' first and to heck with the rest)

Absolutely no 'reach' here on any of the above.

I guess I could have added to laziness "lack of foresight, intellect, sensitivity or any idea that your job is to educate kids". I don't buy the "life isn't fair" because we're dealing with kids who need to be taught to think deeper than just picking friends or who they think is best.
