What do you think about online reservations

Might have been brought up before but thought I'd ask...Would the idea of an online DVC reservation website be a good idea? I think it would cut down the calls into MS and if done correctly, a PDF of your official reservation could be sent to you or you could choose a printer friendly version upon completion. I think it would be great for a simple room reservation.

This is an idea DVC has been working on for some time but apparently do not have the financial resources available to build a system.

It would be a welcome addition to DVC services. They did such a wonderful job on the redesign of the WDW web site. One can only hope that they turn that team over to DVC for a while.

Maybe WDW will go for one and DVC can piggy back off of that investment :)

Part of me says it would be great, but only if you could get confirmation of the reservation right away.

I know that now we can e-mail reservation requests in, but then you have to wait, and I HATE to wait!!!!!;)

I prefer to speak to a MS CM, because I am able to ask questions etc about different dates, and whatnot.

An online reservation system would have to give me the same type of ability.

It would be convenient but it would make me a little nervous. Last summer, I made online reservations for Holiday Inn Family Suites for the Friday night before our Saturday Flight. I had a confirmation number and printout of the reservation (acts as a receipt),and when we went to check in, no reservation was in their computer and they were full. The head desk clerk said that sometimes the reservations don't download the way they are supposed to on the internet and they get lost who knows where.
Needless to say, with 6 of us, I was almost in a panic but they "found" me a room after awhile since I had the printout and number with me.

I like knowing for a fact that I my "home" is waiting for me. Speaking with a real live person makes me feel like it's a real reservation.

weather in Orlando or talk about what's new to a computer:chat:

I know during a recent member phone survey I completed after calling MS one of the questions was about the method I would like to utilize when booking a reservation. One of the options was an Online Booking system (I chose this one).

Online reservations would be a nice addition.

But I have to say that I have called member services 2x for reservations and got through with hardly any wait, and the reps were very helpful and friendly on the phone.

I have no problem with calling for my reservations, so it would be nice for quicker online options, but definitely not necessary in my opinion

I prefer speaking direclty to a CM to make sure I have a room. I know before I hang up that I have my ressie or not or am on a waiting list. With the "on-line" feature we don't have this ability. On a Friday afternoon you won't hear back right away for a ressie. Plus, they won't work for quick ones where you decide to visit on short notice. It would be nice to have access to my information on-line though.

On-line ressies are fine with me ( I would not use it) as long as they still have phone ressies. I'm a person that wants to talk to a human voice. Less chance of a foul up.

I would love to sit down and make my reservations when my little ones are in bed (instead of screaming the moment MS takes me off hold!!) . This would give me time ponder the all the differnent options that available, etc.

PLUS... I wouldn't have to talk to a live human being!!! That's much to scary!

I would MUCH rather have everything done online--there is less chance of a foul up then, I wouild think. I hang up the phone with MS and hope they've got it right, if I did it online not only would I see it's correct, I would have a page to print out.
I would love to be able to see what is available and when, like you can for virtually every hotel chain online.
Here's hoping that add this.
Also I have 2 little kids who clamor for the phone and it's a pain to call with them around-I have to lock myself in the bathroom sometimes to get some quiet. LOL:rolleyes:
