what do you think about CR wing rooms becoming DVC?

is this really true? I think wing rooms are ok but i would much rather stay tower. If they became DVC that would be appealing to me to a point but im not sure. I mean you could still walk to the MK and you would have monorail access. How do you think DVC will handle this, will they make it so new buyers get this as their home resort? Or will exsisting members get 1st "dibs"?
I do like the new look of the rooms at the CR very modern and cant wait to see a room in the wings redone as DVC.

I just don't think it could happen without extensive reworking of the entire infrastructure there, and I'm not seeing that happen.

If they did do so, it would be first come, first serve as far as the points went, current owners wouldn't get a head start--at least that's never been the way we've seen it done.

sometimes the current owners get a preview and a chance to buy points before DVC opens it to the public (new owners). they did this with VWL, BCV and SSR. It is not long generally 4 weeks or little more. this is presales!!!! the resort is not built at the time.

So I am pretty sure that if this happens DVC will tell its members quickly so they can get on the guides list for the points when they can be sold.


as to when it will happen.

It will require the wing to come down. when this happens believe me everyone will know. and until this happens don't hold your breath.

the Cont does not meet the requirements of a DVC anymore (a whole lot less) than the DI did.

I really don't think this rumer is true. At least not in the next 10 years. They wouldn't spend that much money on renovations. To change into a DVC, lots of changes would have to occur to make the studios', 1bd's, & 2br's.

thats what i thought but i keep seeing it popping up on several boards.
i just didnt know how they would do it. I would habe thought they would just redo them like the other rooms.

No, DVC has certain things that the resort they sell as a DVC must have.

the Cont doesn't have these things. - Electricial, plumbing, etc.

so the only way it could become part of DVC would be tear down one of the wings and start over.

the South wing and the tower are definitely getting the rehab.

the reason some people say it might is the North wing. Other than necessary work - the recent stuff. It appears that work is not happening here. It might mean that DVC will get this wing - or it could mean other things.

I really don't think that DVC's would like a business/convention hotel. and that is what WDW is trying to turn the Cont into again. It was back in the 80's.
