We are coming to Walt Disney World for the very first time. We get in on Thursday, June 1 in the middle of the afternoon and have a reservation for the Liberty Tree Tavern for 6:00 PM. We are all very excited to start our trip off with Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and other characters. What else do you suggest we do no our first night? We will get to the park about 4:30 PM?

First night at Disney, and going straight to the Magic Kingdom. You are all ready on the right path. To get the best feel for what is in store for you, hit all the big attractions first, that's what I always do. Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, Pirates, Its a Small World (everyone has to do it), Space Mountain, Dumbo...

The natural inclination is to want to do everything at once, but its best to take it easy on the first day. Walk around, get a feel for the parks, and ride the best things that appeal most to you. There will be plenty of time to do it all.

If you want to get a good overview of the parks, take a ride on the train at mainstreet. It's really relaxing and takes you around the whole park. Also, dont overlook the People Mover in Tomorrowland.

But most important, you'll want to stick around for the fireworks at the end of the night. It's really the best way to capture the magic that first night.

Hope you have a great trip.

I'd definitely do Its a Small World and Dumbo, just to get into the Disney vibe and make sure you go see Philharmagic. Stick around for the fireworks and Spectromagic too if its on that night. I almost envy you going for the first time and getting to see everything with fresh eyes-you'll have a wonderful time.

I guess it depends on the ages of those in your party. If you have younger kids I would hit Fantasy Land and all the rides there then get back to Main Street to watch Wishes. If your party is older and likes thrill rides to some or all of "the mountains" then go back to Main Street to watch Wishes.

We ate at Liberty Tree on our first night in the park when we went in January, we all really enjoyed the character interaction and the food. I hope you have a great time on your first night!!

I might suggest a Disney travel book like Passporter, the official or unoffical guide to Disney. Read up on the attractions at MK if it is your first time. This way you know what attractions you would prefer to see. I have a checklist, the must do's, the do's and the don't do's. We are guided by that.

Have a magical day,
Anna

You're already going to be at the MK, that's the best way to start off, it get's you in the Disney mood. Be sure to stay in the park for Wishes, you'll get goosebumps, you won't be able to sleep that first night.

What are the ages of your Party? What time of year are you going? What time do you arrive on property? Are you planning on checking in at your resort before you go to the MK? You say you will be at the MK at "4:30?" Does the question mark indicate that you are asking if that seems right, or do you know that you will be there at that time?
I agree with a previous poster, start by getting a good guide book and researching the attractions that appeal to you and those in your party. The time of year you are going will affect the MK hours. It may or may not be open much after you finish your dinner. If it is open later, I would enjoy the most important rides for your party and then see Wishes. You don't want to start your vacation too tired.

Well, we are usually so tired from our travel that we actually don't go to a park. Getting up for a 6:00AM flight and living all the excitement of the first day and actually arriving is tiring enough for us.

We prefer to check-in, have a light lunch visit the resort, go for a swim and possibly unpack. Then it's off to Chef Mickey's to celebrate the beginiing of our vacation. If we are not too tired we head over to DTD for alittle shopping and we get to bed early for a fresh start the next day.

I know we couldn't tackle a park (crowds, heat etc) after getting up at 4;00am.
