What do you suggest for Studios Counter Service?

We need an early quick CS option at MGM. We have 3:30 pm :scared1: Fantasmic Dinner Package ADRs, so we need something small and light for maybe an 11:30 am lunch. We'll probably be back in the Star Wars/Muppets area.

Any decent options?

We always end up in the Backlot Express.....it's right next to Star Wars. Good burgers (they took away the fixins though) and good salad and sandwiches. Check it out!:goodvibes Also, love the music they play from old TV shows......:thumbsup2

I think that's where we ate last time. It was fine.

Honestly, MGM has no real good or different CS, IMHO. We usually end up eating at Backlot Express as well--we have had bad experiences at some of the others. :sad2:

If you have to eat there, I would go to Backlot Express. And if you'll be near Star Tours, then all the better to go there.

My kids' favorite place is Toy Story's Pizza Planet.
We go there every time.:thumbsup2

I miss the greek food place - tremendously. Backlot Express is where we usually end up. We ate at Rosie's once and the burgers were horribly dry and the french fries cold. I don't know if it's like that all the time, but we probably won't go back. Backlot is quick and more varied that the rest IMO.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Flatbread Grill. It's tucked back next to the Honey I Shrunk the Audience playground. The Grilled Chicken with Rice and Beans and the Caesar Wrap were really pretty good.

I've always enjoyed Backlot Express. I also recently discovered Toy Story Pizza Planet, and was pleasantly surprised by their tasty pizza. I got an individual pizza with a side salad, and it was just a nice amount to eat. The only thing is that you'll have to blindfold your kids as they walk by the arcade inside there, or you'll never make it to your 3:30 ADR. ;)

Hi
We've been to Backlot Express and Pizza Planet and like both of them. Had a really good veggie sandwich at Backlot and the Pizza and salad were pretty good at Pizza Planet.

I totally agree with the other posters about Pizza Planet! We love it! We have tried the other CS at MGM (oops, Disney Hollywood Studios!) and do not care for them.:goodvibes

We liked the ABC Commissary but I think we are in the minority. None of us like Rosie s All American Cafe.

I know you mentioned counter service, but how 'bout booking an early ADR at Sci-Fi Dine-In and getting some menu items to share as a light lunch. (It's pretty close to the Star Tours area). My family did this recently and it really worked out well. The last few times we had eaten CS at MGM it was a mob scene and the food wasn't that great, so we decided to plan a sit down lunch.

Last week we shared two hamburger platters, two milkshakes and an order of onion rings between the three of us and had a nice, relaxing lunch watching the cheesy movie clips on the big screen. I had heard mixed reviews of Sci Fi but found the service and food to be great.

Thanks, everybody. I had not even considered Pizza Planet. Of course, we might put us in Italian overload since we're eating dinner at Mama Melrose.

Am I correct that there is no longer a place to get a cobb salad except Brown Derby? Seems like years ago you could get one at a counterservice or bakery type place (Starring Rolls?)

We usually grab a hot dog or something, not a huge fan of the Studios counter service options

I concur with ABC Commisary. it was probably our favorite Counter service at WDW We liked the different tastes and flavors that were offered int he menu selections other than teh smae old stuff.

Oh I take that back it was our second favorite after Wolgang Puck Express (though they were very close).

I forgot about ABC Commissary. I had their Cuban Sandwich. Very different but pretty good.

Seems like whenever there is a thread on "What is the worst TS in the World?", ABC Commissary always tops the list. Do you think it has improved of late?
