66 when we're home/awake, 61 at night. I rarely turn the heat up in the mornings, we're not home very long and we're warm from getting out of the shower anyway.

66 is chilly if you're just sitting around, but we have lots of blankets and warm clothing.

I'm really working to keep our heating bill down because I switched natural gas providers and I'm not eligible for "budget billing" right now. I don't want to get hit with a huge bill this winter!

When i'm home it's at 75, not in the house off, sleeping off. I keep my fan on while I sleep so it gets cold in my room. (it helps with drowning out the planes that fly all night long)

68 degrees when we're home and awake, 63 when we're gone or sleeping. We have a feather mattress and down comforter--it's so warm that I sleep in a t-shirt. With regular PJ's I'd be too warm. We, too, seem to be healthier. We might each get a cold in the winter, but that's about it. My son also has allergies, but they are practically non-existent in the wintertime (providing we don't get a real tree for Christmas).

Still looking like 68 is near the median.

Man, at $3.15 a gallon for heating oil, I can't imagine the heating bills for all the 70+ setters.

This is our first year ever of having it below 68°F. In the past it was 68° during the day and it would drop to 60° during the late evening and night hours (automatic thermostat). But with the price of oil this year we are living at about 61° all the time. I do admit, it is a bit chilly, but tolerable. Especially since I don't want to spend my kids college savings on oil! And we have no other means of heat (no woodstove, no pellet stove, etc). I do have a small electric heater, but we use that mostly to make sure the guinea pigs aren't freezing ! Our electric bills are very high, no matter what we do, so we use the electric heater VERY sparingly! BTW, we are between Concord and Manchester, NH.........................P

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

How are you all not freezing? We don't really have a system- just move it up and down as it gets too cold/too hot. It's never below 70, though.

oh, we're freezing alright! every other year we've gone with your system, also never having it below 70. But this year I am really scared of those heating bills :scared1:

I voted 66 degrees and we are in Northern Minnesota.... we have been having temps 10-20 degrees below average for almost a month already!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

We're also in northern MN and have ours set at 64-65 in the mornings and evenings, with it cooler during the day and at night. Good thing I'm a quilter - gives me an excuse to make more quilts! We also use a little electric fireplace heater in the living room to take the chill off.

When the fuel oil was delivered last month, we were home, but the driver just stuck the bill in the door and I swear he ran! When I saw the amount, I didn't blame him for hightailing it outta there!

:rotfl: We are a bit chilled:faint: at times, we just use those cute little fleece throws while we are sitting still (like watching TV or at the computer), otherwise it is fine as long as you are moving or doing something!

We use the woodstove so the only time the furnace runs is when the woodstove is out. My house is never under 70 with the woodstove going.

We love our wood stove too. That was the best purchase we made this year. Every time I fire it up I feel like facing the Middle East and saying "There, keep your darn oil."

It is getting cold in Ohio...but I am holding the line. 55 while we are at work, 60 during the evening when we are home and moving around. 58 when we go to bed. My Dh wears a knitted hat in protest:lmao:

The heating bills can get out of control so fast...I would rather spend my money on fun. :thumbsup2 Frankly I sleep better when the house is chilly.

We also have the advantage of having a passive solar design to our brick home..the walls absorb the sunlight and release the heat in the house at sunset...free energy!:cool2:

between 5.30 am to 8 am its at 76 (we love to be warm) between 8 am to 1.30 pm its at 70 (the dog has to be warm too :dog:) and back at 76 from 1.30 pm to 11 pm and then down to 68 (I swear I sleep with 4 fleece throw blankets and and small and large down comforter)

Yikes. I think my furnace would be running non-stop if I set it to 76. At $3.15 a gallon for heating oil, no thanks.

Oh I love my woodstove too. It is the best thing I bought. Its our 4th winter with it and I am sure it has more than paid for itself.

Its such a good heat that comes from wood.

Okay, we are wimps. We are in Colorado and right now, we are freezing! So, temp is set 70-73 throughout the day. Then at night I turn down to 69. My little 4 yo can't keep his clothes on and his feet are always like icicles!

I came home tonight and roomie had the heat cranked to 67 degrees - I thought I was going to pass out! I turned it down to 62 as soon as possible and am MUCH more comfortable now!

Considering the gas company misread my meter all year, my bill this month is nearly $200!!! (It almost never goes over $100, when the read the meter right in the winter, and much cheaper in the summertime.)

Maybe once she sees her share of the gas bill, she'll turn down the heat! We have such a small condo, it really doesn't take much to warm the place up. Put on a sweatshirt, use a blanket - you're as good as 75 degrees! If it were a huge house, now that might be a different situation...

Can you say peri-menopause?

I used to keep the temperature at 70-72 during the day and 64 at night for sleeping.

This year I'm keeping it on 68 during the day and on 62 at night. Since I've lowered the temperature, I feel better and haven't had a cold or sinus problem.

62 all of the time. With the price of oil, and a 3500 sq ft house, I'll keep an extra sweatshirt on ;)

We're finally putting in our woodstove this weekend!
