I heard that Japanese has the highest average saving rate, which is about 30% of annual income. This year, my resolution is to save more than I think I could... hopefully 15%. I've already put all DH's bonus into investment accounts, and now we'll put most of the tax return into next year's IRA.

It's not easy, we already have a hugh mortgage and student loans. I need some support!

We used to save 20% per year but not right now. I plan to start saving again in June.

Unfortunately the only savings right now are mine and DH's 401k. We do sock a lot away into that, but somehow I never think of that as savings. Any extra money right now is going to pay off credit cards and with DH not having his 10-15 hours of overtime every week that's getting harder to do. I hope the economy around here picks up soon.

I put money away in mutual funds every month. We have four. Two for the girls, one for retirement and one for emergency only. We lost quite a bit last year.
