What do you remember about your current or last pets first day at home?

I remember I got scratched up trying to get her into my van (an uncooperative cat imagine that)... it was easier to get her inside the new house because I pulled in the garage and shut the door.

the little s**t was rescued along with her siblings/mom from a menacing racoon (mom was stray outdoors who had a litter in our yard). rescued them and as we got them settled in a bathroom she and one of her sibs crawled under the less than 2" opening under a china hutch where they proceeded to cry for the better part of a day until they finaly made their way out.

Last pet was an 8 week old kitten. Her first day spent the day taking naps in the laps of my wife and I and both kids. First few nights.....we discovered she was afraid of the dark. Guess she had been in the shelter her entire life and the lights are on 24/7 there After a few weeks she got over that.

The poor little thing was I assume lonely and scared and cried all night. I don’t remember exactly when it switched to her having full run of the house and dominion over it.

Not quite a year ago... my DS wanted "King Arthur."

I put Arthur in a box on the passenger seat with towels in it to keep him warm. We weren't out of the breeder's driveway and he pooped in the box. Luckily, I was able to cover it and hide most of the stink so he wouldn't get all messy, too.

When I got him home, he was a little Tasmanian Devil (like in Bugs Bunny cartoons). My DS said to me, "He's no king, Mom. Kings know how to conduct themselves better. He'll have to be a prince for now."

He turned one on the 7th and he is still no king, although he is starting to calm down a little.

I picked Rosita up from the rescue about 3 hours from home, so it was a long drive back. My dad came with me and drove so I could handle the puppy. She just wanted to climb up and sleep on my shoulders, which is why she's named Rosita (after the Enchanted Tiki Room). She was 16lbs at 8 weeks, so a bit awkwardly large for it already.
