What do you remember about the corn people?

On another thread, I was trying to explain the history of the corn people, but the only detail I can clearly recall was that they first appeared on the "What is the strangest thing you ever saw in WDW?" thread (perhaps the best thread that ever appeared on the DIS). That was 5 years ago (WOW! Time flys!) and I have forgotten most of the corn people tales as they jumped across many threads over many months.

Help me out here. What do you remember about the corn people?

Let's see . . . weren't they sitting on the steps outside City Hall at the Magic Kingdom? Or maybe I'm mistaken there. And I know they were eating it right out of the can, right? Anyway, I know it was one of the funniest things I've ever read here. :rotfl:

yep, I remeber them also eating out of cans of corn....in MK!!! Haa I was thinking about this the other day!!! and the Turkey legs and emu...something??

Thats where it started. Someone spooted a family eating corn out of the can on the steps of City Hall, but i beleive it went much futhers as more and more references popped up about them. I beleive that Willy J was going to send the corn people to do battle with Eisner and the 7 dwarfs, or something like that. Does any of that sound familiar to anyone?

Sounds very familiar...I wish I could remember the whole story. That thread was one of the funniest things I have ever read in my life. :rotfl: It is hard to believe it has been almost 5 years. What were our lives like pre-corn people? ;)

I thought I had remembered something about them taping an area where they sat/stood to watch the Parade and nobody could cross over their tape, but if they were on the steps like you said, then I guess that's not what happened.
Wasn't there a story about people who put tape on the ground to mark their area?

The thread was entitled something like "What's the strangest thing you ever saw at WDW?"

Someone (and I can't remember who) posted that they saw a family sit down on the steps in front of City Hall and open a can of corn and eat it.

What made it hysterical was the matter-of-fact way they posted. No elaboration, no goofy smilies, nothin' but the facts maam. ;)

I remember the corn people on the city hall steps. I think the parade people were a family with a stick of sidewalk chalk that marked off a large area before a parade and the mother stood there telling people it was "reserved" while the rest of the family went on rides!

Oh yeah........ that must be what I was thinking of. Thanks Preb :)

Yes, the corn family were the ones who sat on the City Hall steps and ate straight out of the can.

Now my next question is, who were the water drinkers? Wasn't there a "Water Drinkers Society"?

That was a bit more recent. Aprrox 2 years ago I think. It was a running conversation thread, like that of trhe Swan Dolphin Cheerleadera and the Yayas. Its runnig gag was that its members liked to drink the water from WDW attractions.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen the Yayas around for a while.

It was a huge thread, and all I remember from it was someone seeing the two people sharing a can of corn, and someone else saw two of the seven dwarfs fighting with each other, which was known thereafter as the Dwarf Brawl.

But the "corn people"...for some reason what I remember goes like this: corn people ---> WillyJ -----> charlie, nj -----> Janet Reno. Can I explain that, no. But there it is.

I miss the corn people thread! All of it I remember is the family eating creamed corn on the steps of Town Hall, and another story about someone getting in a fight with Dopey, the Great Dwarf Brawl.

I remember the person who posted it -- she couldn't believe the CBers kept going on and on about it and still are!

Too bad the store doesn't still sell the "Corn people make better lovers!" shirts!

Wasn't the thread originally on the theme park board, as one of those "What's the strangest thing you've seen in WDW?" threads? Funny out of the hundreds of stories in that, everyone remembers the same two!

It's classic. It won't ever, ever die. She created CB fodder for as long as this board is in existence. :)

The corn people thread was the year I joined the DIS. I don't remember much more detail than peopel have already posted...I remember a lot of continuing follow up and laughs with posters like SideshowBob and CharlieNJ, as well as others, on the subject It really is hard to believe so much time has passed. Those were the days!

Hound, the Ya-ya's are still around Ya-ya Thread I stop by now and then myself , they are a very nice group :)

It was so long ago, that it was when I was registered under my old user name - I'makite! :)

I remeber someone found that thread and I stayed up most of the night reading. In fact I woke everyone up laughing so hard.

Wasn't that the thread that had Beverly Lynn's stinky Grandma on it? That was a good one too!!
