What did you wear to the shows? may sound weird but does anyone have pics??

We wore whatever we were wearing to dinner to the shows also. Didn't want to bother with trying to go back and change in between because there was usually something fun going on: pictures, characters, cocktail party, listening to the piano/singing duo, etc. You can totally wear whatever you want to the shows, I always thought it was a little cold in the theater so I brought a sweater/wrap/whatever.

I like to have two bathing suits because putting on a cold wet bathing suit feels icky. I like to have something casual for day and something a little dressier to change into before dinner/show. On pirate night I wear the pirate costume to the show and dinner. On semi formal night I wear a cocktail dress to the dinner and show. There just isn't enough time to change between the dinner and show. It's nice to shower before dinner as it's usually hot and sticky during the day.

You may want to pop over to the US Postal Service and ship a few things home, like work clothes, so you don't have to take them on the cruise.
My hubby and I, in our over-packing days had to do this. Not only did we over pack, but we also shopped, and we were not on a work/vacation, this was just vacation!

Well . . . we're going to be on the ship for Halloween and have a family costume where DH will wear some of those same work clothes (he will be prince charming so dark slacks, dress shoes, white button down plus accessories )

So my question is: Is there really an advantage in having 2 large suitcases versus 3? We will already have to use porters, luggage carts, etc either way. Plus we have two rooms and thus 2 closets to store everything in. I do notice that people say over and over not to overpack but I guess I dont' see a huge downside in it if you aren't going to do carry-on anyway. We are flying cross country for this and it is a 2 week vacation for five people - and we need our Disney flare!

Let me start by saying I live in FL which is the land of casual everything & DH & I are not dress up people.
depending on time of year - daytime: Shorts/pants with Tees for both of us. Sneakers or flip flops for shoes.
Dinner - never, ever formal for us. We both hate to get dressed up and DH doesn't own a suit or a jacket so dark colored jeans with button down shirts or more casual styled like I would wear to a casual Friday at work. Sneakers for both of us.
You are on vacation. You should be comfortable and wear what you want. You will see everything from shorts/tees to formal gowns on board. Just don't over pack. It's a mistake a lot of people make and they usually regret it.
On our last 5 day, I brought enough for us to wear for 3 days and I did laundry. I know, I know - laundry while on vacation. It was well worth the hour and a half so I didn't have to pack so much.

I can relate. I'm a Southern California beach girl, and dress clothes are not part of my wardrobe. I have a few nice dresses that I bought specifically for Palo and formal night, but as soon as dinner's over I'm back in the room putting on my shorts and tank top.

Absolutely get your Disney flare on. Depending on what I did during the day I don't change for the shows. I may change my shoes, add a few jewelry pieces and maybe a cardigan, but that's about it. Also, I say this is your first cruise you'll probably feel a bit more at ease bringing everything you think you may need. Go for it! If you're a shopper, souvenirs and all, maybe bring the two large suitcases and maybe a carry-on for all your purchases. It's a carry-on so no extra airline charges.
On another note, I always bring my travel journal with me on vacation. I actually have a journal just for cruising. I like to reflect during a bit of down time and I jot down a few do's and don't 's for the next time. I like to put in my favorite meals, shows, packing notes, wine, etc,.... you might give this a try. It for no other reason, its a great souvenir that gives you the ability relive your vacation. You could even add a few snapshots.

The only advantage is if you're flying an airline which charges by the bag. If bags are included then I say you do you.

This is our first cruise EVER. WE are going on the Disney Magic Bahamian cruise. I keep reading different things so my question to those who have been is what do you really wear. There will be 6 of us, Myself, the hubby, my mother, and our three kids aged 12(female) 5&4(Males)....

My DH DS and I found ourselves wearing at least 2 or 3 outfits a day. And on port days sometimes 4 only because we used the pool a few times out of they day. We always dress for breakfast and dinner in different outfits and if we go to the pool more than once that allows for a couple more different outfits. But I pack mostly t shirts and shorts for my DS and DH along with pirate night gear. The dinner attire is usually khakis and Polos for them. I like to dress up, so I pretty much wear a cocktail dress every night for dinner, and during the day if not in a bathing suit w/ cover up then either a maxi dress or chiffon top with capris or shorts.

I typically wear shorts and tshirt during the day during dinner I change into linen pants with polo or dress shirt and if the cruise has a formal night I might add a blazer.

For teen boys are jeans ok. My son has one pair of non sweat or denim pants.

I am a stay at home mom on the West Coast where the lifestyle and attire are VERY casual (but fashionable). So I went on my recent first ever cruise with a couple of nice maxi skirts and one casual sun dress. We had two costume nights - Halloween and Pirate.

I found myself wishing I had some slightly dressier clothing for the evenings. I was impressed with how nice everyone looked. But again, people don't dress up that much where I live. Going out for a date night around here means designer jeans, cute shoes and top and some make-up.

We've booked our next cruise and I will be bringing nicer clothes, including some matchy-matchy outfits for my girls. Plus hair bows!

We went on the WBPC and spent time in Miami in advance so we had 19 days of clothes for 3 people...tuxes, gowns, rain gear...all of it. We found a place to comfortably live/store all of our luggage 3 large (as large as allowed by Delta) checked bags, 3 roll aboard over head suitcases (as large as Delta allows) and 2 backpacks 1 laptop bag and one rolling under the seat bag. We managed our luggage between the two adults with porters and Skycaps. It was easy peasy. We even managed to hitch our luggage up and walk home from the port when we got back to San Diego...go ahead. Over pack! We would wear 3 and 4 outfits in a day sometimes. We would wear shorts and tanks out on an excursion or to breakfast. Then swimwear and coverups, then casual maxi dresses for lunch and then if it was a formal night, we would change to black tie. Of course I had matching shoes and handbags for each...of course there was pirate night and princess night too!

I once went on a vacation and packed very light. I got home and it looked like I was gone 3 days (but it was really 10 days) because the outfits kept repeating...this time, I was determined to not repeat for 19 days.

Pretty fun to read all the posts here! I don't go all out dressy-dressy but I do like to look nice for show & dinner after each night. For me that is generally dress slacks, a very nice top and jewelry/accessories. I almost always have a wrap or sweater even though I am quite warm natured, it can be quite cool with the a/c. Personally I find that accessorizing can really snazz up and outfit. For day wear, I'm generally in capris and a tee or cute blouse depending on the day's plans and weather. For shore excursions in warm-weather places I dress to be as cool as possible. I live in FL and it is HOT almost all year. DH wears a nice dress shirt, a sport coat and trousers with no tie. But he does dress it up with a pocket square instead of that uncomfortable tie he hates to wear!

Comfy shoes. Bring comfy shoes! You would be surprised how much walking you will do on a cruise, even while just on the ship! They are BIG boats. My DD's LOVE, LOVE to dress up and they will bring a formal and all the accessories to go with them. It's fun to see them dress up.

I always keep a ziploc with Bounce sheets in my suitcase. Always. It can help my suitcase stay smelling fresh and it keeps me from having to buy fabric softener if I need to do laundry.

You will LOVE your Disney Cruise! Pack the way you want and have FUN!!! As Time & Tide has shown, it is certainly possible to bring lots of "stuff". That porter and luggage looks VERY much like the one we had in Vancouver after our 10 day Hawaii cruise for DD and me!!!

You can dress up as much or little as you want. WE have gone with friends who dress up, on those cruises I took more dresses. Other cruises I have taken just a pair of capri's for dinner and even wore jeans and nice top for dinner. You will see a bit of both sides. We cruise alot so we tend to not dress up as much.

My daughter and i always dress up for dinner, we both wear long dresses every night apart from Pirate night. We will also keep our dresses on throughout the evening. The photographer on our last cruise actually commented on how many dresses we had each. On the European cruises you will find that people do make the effort to dress up a lot more.

Just got back from disney dream, I wore cargo shorts and a tshirt to everything, the shows, main dining rooms, etc. No problems. Saw a very wide range of dress, Everything from things similar to what I was wearing, to full on formal dresswear. Its really up to you, and they don't turn you away. Maybe they would if you show up in a soaking wet swim trunks and no shirt, haha.

This thread has been helpful for me since my family (me, DH, DD 14, DS 6,& DD 3) leave on the Wonder December 4 for our first DCL. Now that I know of have a grasp on day to day wear and evening wear, I have to know, what do people(adults, teens, and children) REALLY wear on pirate night? Does everyone really wear a full pirate costume from the Halloween store?
