What do you primarily use your points for?

So far it's been DVC.We are going on the Dream in Aug.12'. I know( it's alot of points), and we have 251 with 25 more points coming once we pass ROFR. When it's just the 2 of us we easily stay in a studio ,,,so right now it's al the points we need. One day grandchildren will come and i'll develpoe addonitis again

We only use them for the WDW resorts. So far...... Kids will be getting older and trips will be bigger.

In 11 years we have done Grand Californian once (before it was DVC), 2 concierge collection stays, 2 DCL, the rest WDW, VB, and HH.

I use them for stays at my home resorts with the exception of booking OKW in March at the 7-month point.

We use ours mostly for DVC properties. However, we did use some to book DH and DS into an inside stateroom on our upcoming Alaskan vacation. It worked for us this time, but we probably won't do that again. Unfortunately we ran out of points for our spring vacation (probably related to the points spent on the cruise) and recently had to add on to cover what we needed.

We have been able to take atleast one trip a year to WDW on points. But we have also done 2 cruises and have one booked for the Draem in Nov. (I know it's not as good a value, but to be able to do cruises and the trips we have wanted without putting out extra cash has been worth it for us). We are also planning on buying 100 more points, maybe next year.

Since 1992, almost all DVC stays, a couple of Disneyland Hotel stays, and one cruise (because we got to for 1/2 the points).

We have owned for a little over 10 years and we taken 4 DCL cruises - but used a combination of points and cash each cruise (two cabins) and we traded out once - The Royal Sands, Cancun.

We only have 200 points. Only plan on DVC stays every other year with an extra trip every 4 with only DH and myself. Want to take a cruise on 2012' but plan on paying cash. With only going every other year, don't think we'll need to trade out points. Would love to add on for annual trips, but it's getting harder and harder to find times to vacation as the kids get older and their subjects get more hectic. Guess we'll have to wait until the kids are grown and DH and I can go on our schedule.

I bought resale and it was loaded with banked points so for the 2 years we did stay at the Poly, and we also travelled to CA and stayed at the Hotel del Coronado. Since those points are gone we just do DVC resort stayes between OKW-BWV-SSR. For cruises and away vacations it's actually cheaper to pay cash than use points!

We have used our points mainly for DVC stays since we became members in 1992.
Several years ago we used points for a Disney cruise - two cabins for six family members @ 1,000 points - yikes. We won't do that again as it wasn't cost effective.
Occasionally, we rent out the points when we can't use them.

Interesting to note the large percentage of posters who use their posts for WDW resort stays only. Pretty much as I had assumed when I posted the original thread.

And it's also interesting to note that those who had used their points for cruises, almost to a person, wouldn't do it again because of the perceived "lack of value" compared to resort points usage, thereby leading to cash payments for future cruise requirements.

We mostly use ours for DVC trips to our home resort (AKV) but when we bought we got a years worth of bonus points as an incentive so we used them for an ABD trip to Italy. We love Hilton Head in the spring as a "non" Disney option.

We have used ours for multiple cruises, and DLH, WDW DVC, and a concierge level exchange in Washington D.C. We enjoy using our points to take family and have a great time together. We have been DVC members since '07. As another poster said, we don't mind using our points for cruises as then we don't have to have the cash on hand to make reservations and travel.

we just use our points for 1 holiday a year at wdw, its a bit far to travel from scotland to orlando just for a couple of nights .

we have thought about using it else where but because we like florida so much there is no point.

DVC resorts only now. Tried RCI and got burned on 160 points. Will never do that again.
