What Do You Prefer - Soarin or Test Track?

Two very different rides but both Tier 1 at Epcot

We ended up having two half days at Epcot so we could book a FP for both (and rode Test Track on stand by again on the second day)

Soarin feels like you're flying.
Test Track lets you "build" a car and then see how it performs in "real" life situations...plus you go super fast at the end.

Before riding either, I thought i would have preferred Soarin, but in the end I found the ride just ok (and guess my stomach was a bit senstive at times). But I LOVED Test Track as did my DS9 and DD5. First I think it's cool how you can see how your car does in various situations and the fast track part at the end was really cool.

How about you? Which do you like better?

I like both, but I would have to go with Soarin and I am looking forward to the new film.

I preferred the old Test Track. Even though the ride was largely identical, it made more sense.

We use single rider at TT whenever possible because once you've done it once or twice the car design is no thrill.

What was the original version of TT like?

We rode Test Track one time on stand by. The posted wait time said 45 minutes, but it ended up being 30 minutes...and that included the time building your car. So it wasn't bad at all. But I can totally see just going in the single rider. (although my kids loved building their car and then seeing how it performed...but that's mostly my DS as he's competitive :lmao:)

The original TT was a much more straightforward presentation of putting a car through its tests: braking, handling, sharp turns, heat, cold, etc.. I am not a big fan of the futuristic Tron-like narration and visuals and the scoring of the car designs seems pretty arbitrary. But, my opinion probably just reflects the fact that I am a boring old f*rt. and, like I said, the ride itself is still the same and I still enjoy it.

I rode them both for the first time last week, and for me Soarin' was the better of the two. My kids on the other hand, loved TT and preferred it over Soarin'.

I love Soarin mainly because of how relaxing of a ride it is plus I love the song that goes with it. Then again, we are huge fans of TT too. On our last trip I made FP+ selections for Soarin and then we all went to TT and got in the single rider line. The posted wait time for Standby was 45 minutes and we waited maybe 20 minutes in the single rider line. You really don't get to make your own car in the single rider line, instead you get a generic one that you can choose and do one maybe two other things to it, that was the difference.

We greatly prefer Soarian' It is great and no stomach queasiness with us. We too far preferred the original Test Track. We no longer even bother to ride the new version.,

Soarin by far. Preferred old test track as well - new one is flashy but they really screwed up the theme - not a bad idea but used to be much clearer telling you what and how they were testing vehicles.

TT single rider is fine or hit one at rope drop and FP for other. If it's low season and you get there 15 before drop, you can probably do both standby since I think epcot fast passes are currently a waste. Was there last week and did both rides standby by 10am. Brisk walk to soarin which we walked on to and TT was still only 30 by the time we got there. (Both were up to 60 by 10 so rope drop is key to get both done)

Another vote for Soarin but TT is a great ride too. The problem is they are the only two headliners at Epcot and are always too crowded..

Wow! tough choice. That's like asking me if I prefer Haunted Mansion or Pirates of Caribbean. We love both Soarin and Test Track. Both are "must-dos".

We do tend to repeat TT more within a day though, since that thrill of speed can be had over and over. Soarin is more of a once per day.

If I had to choose just one, it would come down to something other than the ride-like wait time.

I like the peaceful, relaxing Soarin' more than TT and always have. I can drive 65 on the freeway - although I admit it's not in a convertible with the top down!

To be fair, the banked track on TT provides a sensation of going somewhat faster than 65 MPH.

Soarin'. I love Soarin'.

Test Track is fine, but I never seem to even make it over to that side of the park. :confused3. When traveling with a 3 yr old, there's really nothing over there that doesn't have a height requirement (except Ellen's Energy thing - somehow I've never had 45 minutes to spare to try that). So we just stick to the the Land and Seas pavilions.

Soarin is nice. Maybe I'll be a bit more enthusiastic about it if/when they ever do a 2.0 version. Once per trip is all we need. But, while we both prefer the original version of TT, we'll still hit it multiple times, using single rider once we've used our FP. Ordinarily I wouldn't bother with a FP on TT, but since we go to Epcot multiple times per trip, there's really nothing else besides Soarin to spend it on. FP+ and tiering at Epcot is really a joke for the way we tour FW. But I'm veering OT, so back now to the original discussion.

Everyone in my family prefers TT. We don't even bother with soarin anymore, too boring for ride wait. Reminds me of circle vision 20' off the ground.

Test Track is one of my favorite rides, but I love fast thrill ride type stuff. I like Soarin', and think it's a really cool ride, but if it were anywhere other than Epcot it would not have the long waits that it does. Case in point, according to Touring Plans, average wait time for Soarin' yesterday (11/11) was 57 minutes. In DCA, the average wait time yesterday was 30 minutes. The crowd at Epcot was rated. 5, while DCA was rated a 7. I realize this is a tough comparison to make, but the point is Soarin' is not the big attention getter at DCA (at least not any more), because there are other headliner rides to do. In Epcot, Soarin' becomes a headliner by default. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because to me at least, Epcot is about much more than rides. Still it really does need at least one more "Tier 1" type ride.
