What do you pack in your bag to take to the park?

Do most people carry a backpack with them into the park? I thought they checked bags at the gate and you weren't allowed to bring food/drinks in. I was thinking of freezing some bottled water and juice and maybe a few snacks and then bringing it in and putting it in a locker for later but I don't want to take the chance if they aren't going to let us bring it in. What are your suggestions for what to bring to the park and do you carry a bag around with you or store it someplace? I don't think I'd want to have to carry a backpack around most of the day, especially in the heat.

We were there in December, and we brought bottled water everyday. Lots of people bring in snacks and sandwiches, so I don't think that will be a problem.

We've never gone when it's been terribly warm, so the backpack was never an issue. We always made sure we had some bandaids, ponchos, sunscreen, etc.

Have a great time!

I guess I would have to say it depends on wich park your going to. For instance....if I were going to DHS I would take ear plugs for Lights Motors Action! :goodvibes

I take with me in my baggallini a bottle of water, mole skin, small scissors, chapstick with sunscreen, sunscreen, sunglasses case, pancho, or umbrella, small towel for wet ride seats (to dry off), pen, notebook for notes to do TR, bandaids, hand sanitizer, shout wipes, sanitizer wipes, wallet, cell phone, itinerary book, sharpie, ear plugs, lipgloss. Hmmmm.... could I have left anything out?!? :rotfl: I certainly don't think everyone needs to take all of this, but it's good to know what all some people take so you get an idea of what you might need. Good luck! :thumbsup2

I'll usually take food drinks and some clothers. And...my mom always says me what to take.

I took a small purse that I wore across my body that had all of the valuable items like a small wallet (with park tickets, credit card, cash, insurance cards, etc), my camera, cell phone and things needed for the restroom - post its (to cover the automatic flusher for my DD), individually wrapped sanitizing wipes and tissues.

Then I had a backpack that I made as light as possible. Most of this time this bag was in the storage area at the bottom of our stroller that we brought from home.
What was in it: wet wipes, sunscreen, 2 small lightweight umbrellas (Dollar Store), ponchos (Dollar Store), change of clothes for DD, snacks, SPF lip balm, sunglasses, autograph book & retractable sharpies, band-aides and small neosporin spray, hand sanitizer, small towel, itinerary with restaurant reservations.

Hooked to our stroller with hooks I got from the camping section at Walmart were a water bottle (filled it with Brita filtered water at the resort and ice before coming into the parks, could get free cups of ice in the park), and a mister fan (got at Walmart in the fan area)

It worked out great.

You certainly can bring food and drinks in- although I think they do not allow glass bottles of course no alcohol. Your bags will be checked as you go through line, so be prepared to open/unzip every bag.

We had a stroller last time, so we brought a backpack and a small soft sided cooler that fit under the stroller. I froze bottles of water and gatorade the night before, so I threw those into the cooler along with some snacks (fruit, crackers, etc). I put a wet wash cloth in the freezer over night and threw that into a zip loc baggie- very handy to wash sticky hands later in the day or wipe a sweaty face.

Lets see- I also brought (aside from usual things like money, KTTW card, fastpasses, sunscreen, extra pull ups and wipes for DD), extra change of clothes for DD in case of "accidents", rain ponchos, mister type water bottles for kids, book containing my tour itinerary/ADR conf. #s etc, camera and extra batteries and extra memory cards, small towel from hotel- good for wiping down wet seats on water rides, anitbacterial wipes for wiping down tabletop before eating, crystal lite packets for the bottles of water, glow sticks/bracelets if we were in parks for evenings, rolls of pennies and quarters for pressed penny machines...think that was about it!;)

We each carry our own small bag into the parks. My "rule" with the kids (11 and 8) is: If You Want to Take It, You Must Carry Your Own Bag. This rule has worked out quite well and after our first day in MK, the kids quickly learned that they didn't need to bring along their iPod (DD) or their Nintendo DS (DS).

DD packs her wallet, camera, a change of clothes (including a sweatshirt), a rain poncho, a few snacks and a few bottles of water.

DS (with supervision), packs his diabetes supplies, his Epi-Pen, a change of clothes, a rain poncho, juice boxes (for low blood sugar), snacks and a few bottles of water.

In my own bag is my wallet, cell phone, camera, a change of clothes, a rain poncho, a few bottles of water, a small first-aid kit, lots of Ziploc baggies (they are so handy!), a travel-size container of baby wipes, sunscreen and extra snacks.

DH probably has the lightest bag with his wallet, cell phone. change of clothes and rain poncho.

I always bring the camera, camcorder, wipes, sunscreen, a card with ressie info, cell phone and DS's ipod. I carry it because it gives me a break sometimes

That pretty much covers it. It gets lighter and hold less stuff the more we go to any park any where.

Both my DH and I carry backpacks into the parks so this load is split up between the two.

My camera in a ziploc bag
Four frozen bottles of water
Goldfish crackers
Beef jerky
Sunscreen
Palm sized mister fans
Sunglasses
Binder with reservations, receipts, touring plans, etc.
Park maps and Times Guides
Small makeup kit
Ponytail holder
Disposable ponchos
Wallets
Light toys & mini flashlight
Autograph books & pens
Sham wows in a ziploc bag
Bandanas (to use as seats or to soak with cold water when it's really hot)

Each night, I empty the packs and repack them for the next day because they always seem to serve as a catch all for things we pick up along the way.

Each day, we wear our lanyards with our KTTW and photopass cards in them. I try to hang as much as I can on them such as the mister fans during the day and light toys during the night. It works out well and keeps them handy when we need them.

What is a lanyard? I've heard it mentioned a lot on dis and I have no idea what it is or what its for? Thanks

We have a bag packing routine. We have a specific light weight bag that we use for the parks. Inside we bring camera, wallets (money, cards, tickets, etc.), ponchos if we are feeling unlucky, a bottle of water, pins for trading, our cell phones, sunglasses, sometimes sunscreen.

Wets, a lanyard is something you wear around your neck. Most people probably mean trading pin lanyards around here...

Yea my dad carries a back pack with water bottles I'm not sure about food though.

Personally I carry a very small purslike tinker bell backpack with maps of the parks, my wallet, chapstick, eyeliner, facestick sunblock, sunglasses, and my cell phone. I try to keep my stuff to a minimum so it's easy to find what I need. This next trip I have my big olympus camera so I might get an actualy back pack and just throw it all in one bag as oppossed to carrying two bags.

I use a baggallini bag and in it goes the following:

1 bottle of water (frozen when I leave the hotel or resort)
2 small snacks (pringle packs/crackers/pretzel bags)
2 small boxes of raisins

Camera / Camcorder (flip) / Cell Phone
Wallet / Sunglasses & case / Park Map / 1 page itenerary / pen / poncho (sometimes)

Mini first aid kit (in a mesh make up bag): band aids, neosporin, mini-sunscreen, small bug spray/wipes, travel (advil, tylenol, immodium, claritin) tablets, hair tie, safety pins, chapstick, wet ones

I add a benadryl itch relif stick/or store brand to the min first aid. If a bug bits comes up or a reaction to the soap, it is a soothing dab and on we go!:cheer2:

We bring a back pac that we store In the locker at the frist park we goto(where hoopers so we will bounce around from park to park. So sometimes we will leave It at one park and come back later,or take our deposit and recipet and throw It in another locker at the next park) and a bag, oh like a sling/messenger bag we carry around the parks with us. So In the back pack I will pack, extra change of shirt and socks and a towl,In case It rains or we get a little to wet on a ride. Ponchos, for those down pours!,extra batterys, tylenol/advil,tums allergy meds/drops basicly our frist aid kit, a second hand towl for seweat. The hand towls work great keeping the sweat off,and for me staying cool. My carry bag, planner with all my ADR,park schedules water bottels, that I refill with the free Ice water from CS,my frist hand towl for our face zip lock bags to store our wallets and phones/camaras on water rides. A small frist aid bag(a sample from the one In our back pac).

I carry a couple bottles of water, camera, a couple of snacks, emergency ponchos, bandaids, cell phone, and car keys.

wet washcloths in baggies to wipe of the sweat (can be re-wet)
suntan lotion
snacks
camera
extra batteries
hand held battery operated fan

My bag will have my first aid kit, sunscreen, blistex, hair elastics, wallet, cards, sunglasses, sunglass wipes, antibacterial lotion, tide pen, some empty ziploc bags for whatever, maybe flip flops if we're going on KRR and want to change shoes, depending on weather, sweatshirts, ponchos only if we're expecting rain (I take my chances and lighten the load on non-threat days :) ), 20 questions hand-held game for waiting in line, a couple of mister fans.

For my first aid kit, I use a small zippered makeup bag and include bandaids in various sizes, neosporin, anti-itch cream, benadryl, tylenol/advil, tweezers, fingernail clippers, moleskin (pre-cut). This bag goes EVERYWHERE with me.

Up until now, I've always used a stroller to load the stuff into. We would use a stroller satchel to hold everything. As the kids get older and I don't use the stroller, I will not be loading all of this onto my back!!!!
