What do you order @ Akershus

So i have been thinking about Akershus Princess Storybook for my DD5 and I on our first night.... We meet up with my Bro, SIL, Niece and Nephew for the next 3 days after that for a cheerleading competition ....so the first night and the last couple nights is basically all about her.

My DH surprised me with tickets for Xmas....

What do you all order when you dine there....
the menu is a little different and i just want to make sure that the food is good and just sounds weird...haha
My DD5 has a life threatening peanut and tree nut allergy should this be avoided any nuts floating around?

Unless things have changed, you don't order anything
No really, lunch & dinner are a buffet and breakfast is family style.

As for allergy issues, Disney has a fantastic reputation. Note it on all reservations...also check allears.net for info and search this board. There is plenty of info to help you out! (complete, very thorough lists of what to avoid etc.)

There is a buffet of cold cuts and salads but you do order your entree. I was worried the food here would be strange but it's not at all. Try anything, I am sure it's all good. I had the traditional Kjottkaker and it was very good!

I second the traditional meatball thing! It was tasty! It reminded me of Salisbury steak!

Third vote for the kjottkaker! It also reminds of salisbury steak. My dad and I both enjoyed it...my dad is extremely picky and if he liked it, it's a good sign. The buffet wasn't all that great to me, but I was stuffed on my entree and the excellent dessert tray (we asked for seconds on the desserts). My mom and sis got a pork sandwich which got mixed reviews from them. Plus Cinderella was there...SCORE! She's my niece's favorite and the one she was looking forward to the most.

I had the pork shank thing with potatoes and DH had venison i believe. They were both okay- kind of bland but fine for meal.

If you are not adventurous, I'd go with the meatball dish. I had a bite of it and it was good. I ordered the open face sanwhich and leek soup for lunch. It was yummy! You do get the buffet, too. It had some dark brown, sweet cheese on it that was really good. Oh, and the desserts were delicious.

I booked this dinner because we could not get a res in the castle or Park Fare. I was very worried that we would not enjoy the menu, and felt liked we had settled just to see the princesses...aiming to see Sleeping Beauty but, we were told there was no guarantee. We were SOOOOOO pleasantly suprized when we got there. The Akerhaus is beautiful; we saw 5 princesses: Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, and Jasmine. I was shocked!!! The food was deliscious. There was a cold buffet appetizer bar, you ordered an entree, and then we got a dessert tray. We loved it. I would definately recommend booking this.

The food there was really very good and the building is beautiful.

I had the salmon dish and it was excellent. I also have nut allergies and the desserts were not nut safe except the rice cream (like rice pudding) so I had them bring me my own separate bowl with just that and the rest of teh family shared the regular dessert platter. I think everything on the buffet was fine except the breads weren't ok due to cross contam issues (but that's the same with pretty much every place). They were very helpful at walking through the buffet and the Chef was American though the wait staff wasn't so I knew my needs were being taken care of.
