What do you mean no sweet tea?

Because sweet tea is, for the most part, a regional item and likely not popular enough at this time to offer everywhere. There are a handful of places you can find it. I live in NC, so it's everywhere here (and I am far from a fan of it).

Perhaps there's not enough demand for it. WDW is in Florida, but the majority of visitors are NOT from the south.

I cannot begin to tell you the times I have witnessed doth in WDW and DL folks saying "its not TOO sweet is it? "

Outside of the deep south, lots of folks are not used to the sweetness. I like it, but I am more used to the regular.

I will say when I visited NOLA, I just loved the sweet tea and the wonderful southern hospitality.

I am just thankful that Disney finally got real coffee. :goodvibes

I've found that it's difficult to find brewed sweet tea anywhere from Orlando south. The further south you go, you'll get flavored tea rather than sweet. Drives DH crazy. He's a southerner and likes his tea thick with sugar. :crazy2: If you're in a restaurant with a bar, try asking for some simple sugar. It's much better than a packet of sugar that won't dissolve. Or, if you can get a grocery store, get a gallon from the Publix deli. It's really good. Other than that, the fast food chains and barbecue joints will have it.

I'm going to attempt to make my own sweet tea in the room.

First I'm going to brew boiled water in a tea bag and then add lots of sugar. Once it's dissolved nicely pour it into a tupperware pitcher and put it in the fridge.

I don't know if it will work but if it does, it will be nice to drink in the room.

They have it at Boatwrights! I love sweet tea and as another poster mentioned, it's nearly impossible to find in NY. So I was THRILLED when the server at Boatwright's mentioned they offered it.

A few restaurants have real if it works with menu. Splitsville DTD had and it was legit. The one from the dispensers, no go. If you have car there is a chickfila outside downtown disney - grab a gallon.

I live in Orlando. Disney may not have sweet tea but it is readily available elsewhere in the area.

I don't eat or drink it on a regular basis, but whenever I venture out-of-state for vacation or work, I start craving both sweet tea and Whataburger every single day for every single meal. That craving stops the minute the plane lands back in Texas. :rotfl:

When I stayed at the boardwalk last week they had pre sweetened iced tea as a refill option at the drink station, I drank it all week. Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but I liked it.

There are many things not served at WDW that you can find "back home". They can't serve everything and why would you expect them to.

For most people, Florida is in the south, so we don't understand why a regional southern item is not available. It's not like we are asking about Fluffernutter sandwiches.

I feel a similiar way about orange juice. It used to be more difficult to get a decent orange juice in WDW....when every breakfast joint on 192 outside the park managed to serve a decent Floria orange juice.

Sweet tea is available at so many places around here (Orlando). I have no idea why it's hard to find in WDW. Maybe has to do with their agreement with Coke. But to suffer for a few days with out it is ridiculous. As someone else said, go to Chick Fil A and pick up a gallon and take it to your room, have a cab pick it up and deliver it to you. :lmao: They make some of the best.

Though I live in NY and we call what you consider "sweet tea" "ice tea" over here, I too, have found it impossible to get it in an restaurants here either. They do the same thing Disney does if you order it - they tell you they will bring it to you unsweetened and you can add the sugar yourself. LOL It's awful that way.

At least some fast food places, like McDonalds, carry Nestea sweet teas from the drink dispensers. But otherwise, I have never had any waiter anywhere in NY be able to accommodate my request for real sweetened Ice Tea.
And you probably never will. The northern states just barely started to get Sweet Tea because McDonalds carries it. Otherwise there is no demand. Personally I give my pancreas enough of a workout without adding to the burden. I hate the taste of Sweet Tea and down here in NC, if you don't specifically ask for Unsweet tea you get Sweet Tea.

Another reason is that they are attempting to error on the side of safety. If a diabetic were to be accidentally served Sweet Tea it could have catastrophic results.

Mixing lemonade is better than adding lemon anyways since it is a known fact that cut lemons at restaurants are the grossest items and have tested positive for feces. (google it)

Now that statement is going to require some proof. How, exactly, does lemon end up with feces in it anymore then any other item that you might get in a restaurant. If it is from the people handling the lemons, better check out the glass that you are drinking from because more then likely it's there as well, if not more so. And wouldn't the acid content of Lemons kill off some of the bacteria?

In the past 14 years, my area has gone from zero sweet tea in restaurants, to it being in the majority of them. I know Ohio isn't NY, but it still isn't the South. As far as the lemons, some people still don't wash their hands enough, they don't wear gloves to bartend, and the lemons usually sit uncovered. Definitely not sanitary. :crazy2:

Sweet tea is basically pure sugar water with a hint of tea. I think it tastes pretty gross and I'm from Texas.

Some people think it is a healthier option than soda because it has tea in it.

I'm originally from Missouri, but have lived most of my life in Oklahoma. I LOVE sweet tea! :thumbsup2 I have a glass on the table next to me at this moment! I hope I don't have to go 10-12 days w/o decent sweet tea while I'm at Disney, but I will survive!:rotfl2:

However, I did have to google what the heck a fluffier nutter sandwich was! Actually sounds good! What region are these sandwiches from?:confused3

I'm not a scientist, so I don't know about acid killing off bacteria, but I have seen more than one study on various television shows where they have tested the lemons that are put in tea & water, and it is true that they are often full of many different bacteria that could be very harmful to certain people especially those with reduced immune systems.

New England. I heard it on national news several years ago when the Massachusetts legislators banned it from school menus.

I'm from Texas too (ignore the name, it's just my current residence) and I think sweet tea is nasty. But I also don't think of Texas as "the South", it's more Southwest. It seems like restaurants default to unsweetened tea unless you ask for sweet tea. I prefer that. My grandmother in law always has a pitcher of each on the table for Thanksgiving though.

But sweet tea isn't healthier than soda, you're right about that. It's just sugar water :)

Ask for it "half-and-half" and it's a lot more palatable.

I like half & half. When I make "sweet tea" at home I use about 2/3 cup of sugar to a gallon. I know I've had sweet tea other places that are like syrup. I just like enough to take away the bitter.
