My 17 year old dd and I will be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter in August. It's my first time at this resort and I'd like to hear what it is about it that keeps people coming back.

What do you love about Port Orleans French Quarter??

It's SMALL compared to other resorts. Our favorite part was the "streetlights" along the sidewalks lit up at night.

Our kids loved the pool area and all the alligators!!

Food Court is really fun!

Size, prettiness, Downtown Disney boat and those delicious beignets!

Plus, first stop on the bus!

It resembles the French Quarter in New Orleans but a lot smaller and a lot cleaner.

Everything is in walking distance whereever you stay in the resort.

A great place to stay!

I love the smallness of the resort. It isn't a far walk to anything; bus stop, food court, pool etc.. I also love the boat to Downtown Disney.

We are staying there for the 1st time in October, and after reading these posts, I am getting really excited! We were supposed to stay there last January, but it was closed, so we stayed at the Contemporary instead... gee, what a trade off!!! Actually, the Contemporary is now our favorite resort, so they did us a favor!

1) Small and quaint.
2) Great hot tub after a day of walking, not crowded.
3) Best water slide for the kids.
4) Great lighting after dark.
5) Easy access to boats to Downtown Disney.
6) No long walks from ANY building.
7) Attractive and cute food court.
8) Scat Catr Lounge has great jazz and music (plus rum punch).

What we liked about POFQ is that compared to all of the other moderates it is the smallest. This equals less walking between your room and the pool and the buses and the food court. We also loved the theming of POFQ. The bus service is also good because POFQ is the first stop going and coming. I believe POFQ and POR share buses. If we were to stay at a moderate again it would be POFQ.

Hope you have a great trip.

We love port orleans and have tried other resorts and always find ourselves coming back. It is so much smaller and less crowded than the other resorts. And although it doesn't sound important.. when you are there at a busy time and get back to the hotel after a day in the parks.. the last thing you want to do is walk a long way to your room. It is very compact and everything is close. Even in the building furthest away from the food court/pool you are not far at all. With only one bus stop that is easy to get to, it's great. We have never had to wait a long time for the bus and as it stops here before going to the 4/5 stops a POR, you always get on the bus and don't get passed by by a full bus. AND when the bus is full and you are going back to your hotel.. you are dropped off first ...

It's a great place.

-its very small and close knit!
all the other moderates are more spread out
-Ive been to New Orleans and its exactly like the FQ except cleaner...lol
-everything is within walking distance
-there really isnt a far room from the Food Court etc.
-and I just like it there! :)

It's good to hear your opinion WDWfanatic since you're a teen! We were originally going to stay at ASMusic but couldn't pass up the latest code rates.

Keep this terrific thread alive! You all are making me so excited to go! :bounce:

And don't forget to check out the cute "street signs" around the resort. It may LOOK just like the French Quarter, but Disney always has to throw in a little pixie dust!! ;)

The boat ride to DTD is also a great plus at POFQ or POR.

Have a great time!

FH and I are going to be staying there for the first week of our 2 week honeymoon (second week is the cruise) and I've never been there before. It's good to know that people have nothing but good things to say about it!!!!

I pretty much agree with everyone else. I think its the size of it and the atmosphere that results from the size. Its just a very relaxing resort and peaceful. its great just as its getting dark and the street lights are on. the boat ride to downtown disney is great too. Its also very relaxing.

..... we also find this resort very relaxing - a complete contrast to the hustle and bustle of the parks. Everything is a short walk - the food court, the pool, the marina and the car park. Just love the boat to DD!
I can recommend Building 5 - we stayed on the top floor ( there is an elevator if you need it) and found it very quiet.
