What do you love about Bay Lake Tower?

Have an accepted offer on a BLT contract I couldnt resist. Never stayed there. Other than the obvious big benefit, location, what do you love about the resort?

Walking to the MK. Watching the fireworks from your room or the viewing area at the CR. Viewing the Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake. All the great restaurants at CR. Easy access to the monorail. And I love that the 1 bedroom villa has 2 bathrooms.

Probably one of the easiest resorts to move in and out of. You can pull right up to the front, unload, park the car and get on an elevator after a very short walk. Having two elevator banks is great! Love the little beach too.

We always feel like there is so much to do there! I mean considering you have such easy access to the Tower: We love the Grand Canyon Concourse and having 3 different shops to browse around in. Dining choices are pretty good considering now you'll have Steakhouse 71 and California Grill for table service options. Contempo Cafe is a really good quick serve in our opinion, and the Sand Bar/Cove Bars are both solid pool bars as well! (I know I didn't mention Outer Rim or Chef Mickey's but they are also so convenient!) There is Contemporary Grounds in the lobby where you can get Joffrey's items. You can watch the Electrical Water Pageant in the evenings, and catch the fireworks from MK from different spots around the resort as well.

Nice community hall too...good for kids on a rainy day. The laundry room is a short walk from the pool. Throw in your wash, do some pool time, throw in the dryer, repeat. Easy access to ice machines...I think they are on the forth and 9th floors?

The fact that the ice machines aren't on every floor drives me crazy. The one thing I don't like about BLT.

Still...easy elevator ride and short walk. Compared to some other resorts it’s a breeze. OKW....we’ve only found ice machines at the bus stops. Kidani.....long long walk. Boardwalk.....another long walk unless your room is close.
But you’re right.... I don’t know why there are only 2 ice machines for the entire resort. And if you aren’t aware that there isn’t one on every floor like most of the DVC resorts, it’s very frustrating.
I should add that I’ve found the CMs at the desk are also very helpful.

We LOVE the extra bathrooms in the 1 and 2 bedrooms. LOVE! Found it easy/convenient to use the bridge to Contemporary, and easy access to monorail, and then of course walking to MK. We like the aesthetics too.

I got one of those surveys for BLT and I think that's one thing I mentioned in it. The only signs I could see for ice were in the elevator lobbies, but unless you landed on the correct floor in the first place, you wouldn't know which floor to go to!

What do I like about BLT? I love the location and the compactness of it. Even if you're at the end of the hall, it's not a long walk. It has a good energy; the monorail and activity at MK makes it a pretty busy area, but the colors used inside are calming.

(disclaimer...that's our home resort since it opened. I have never stayed in a studio there or ever plan to as I do not love that layout, but man the 1 bedroom is the best option around...especially when traveling with 2 teen boys!)

I stayed there a long time ago and I dont remember it much. We own elsewhere and a wanted just a few more points to combine at the 7 month mark but also a resort we think we would like. A small contract with the same use year popped up at BLT on a resale site that had 2021 points banked so double points for 2022. I made a low sub $170 per point offer and it was accepted figuring the only contracts I see selling below $170 per point were larger contracts and I have been told that smaller contracts command a premium (not sure if thats true or not) and the offer was accepted. We are very happy with the resort, I mean come on its the Contemporary! I started watching some Vloggers and as we only do studios (we are just 2 people) and I know thats not a smart thing to do watch videos, I started seeing people saying the studios weren't great so I was just asking for what people feel are the benefits. One big one I thought was the Top Of The World Lounge (I know not open yet but hopeful) and wanted to see what other people loved about BLT. So we didnt buy blind were just looking for some extra points at a resort we know we might like. This was more of a question to make me understand more why people love it. And with the double points we have the ability to do a one bedroom for the times we travel (travel at off times and during the week) if we choose to do so. We find studios just fine and like the placement of the kitchenette in BLT but have heard it makes the room feel small (sure its fine for 2 people).

All this being said we have not passed ROFR yet so all this is just conjecture

I’ve done studio at BLT - I’m a 1 bedroom person but needed a 1 night before cruise so did studio
Then another trip could only get Studio - it’s not that bad - just missed the washer / dryer and EXTRA bathroom
Had plenty of room and I NEVER cook on vacation

Besides location we love the community hall and the CMs who staff it, my daughter (4) refers to them as her friends

The one bedroom is also great with the addional bath for "non paying guests"

Can't believe no one has mentioned the chart, IMO the sexiest in the DVC system, given its monorail status. When you're reading those posts about Poly of VGF, just cuddle up to that good looking BLT chart and remember how smart you are. All the charts after BLT escalated quickly.
