What do you look for when choosing a resort?

It depends on the trip. Sometimes, it is location. For example during Food and Wine Fest I want to be near Epcot.

But some trips are budget focused, so I will pick whatever Value sounds fun at the time. If I know I am going to want to be in the pool quite a bit, then at least a moderate resort works.

It all depends on how long of trip and how many parks we are doing.

Anything over 10 days we look at the Pool and food as we would only do normally 5 days at the parks and 5 days at the resort.

1 week trip we look for hotels that are closest to the resorts. POP and AoA is nice because of the skyliner.

Mostly the cost. But after trying Port Orleans atmosphere is a top priority. And I mean it as we didn't like the POR at all. It just didn't seem like Disney to us. My one daughter was in tears. Future visits will most likely be to Pop. We love the excitement, the noise, the people, and the low price.
Yes, value resorts are inclined to have the most "Disney" feeling with the over the top/in your face style of theming. Moderates are a little less. Deluxe are the least. The further up in price/level you go, the more subdued the theme.

But to echo this, atmosphere is important to us as well and I guess would be one of our drivers too. Beach Club screams "vacation" to us with the bright colors and airy feeling. AKL is beautiful, but dark and with a different vibe, which is not our preference. So definitely personal taste comes into play.

Well... I look at a lot of things, but I am a researcher! Depends on my mood and what I am looking for during my trip. Last trip, we took DGD6 so we stayed at wilderness lodge villas, it is our favorite! The location was key as we knew we would spend more time in MK. This trip it is just me and my DD24, so we are staying at BWV cause we think we will spend more time at Epcot because of Food and Wine! If I stay at Port Orleans riverside, my favorite mod, I will go onto Touring plans and look at theirs maps and see where rooms in my chosen category are located!! Close to bus stop, or close to HH! So it depends on who is with me and what we are going to do while there!

When the kids were younger it was all about the Disney magic. We loved POP and tried CSR out because they loved the pool. CSR definitely missed the magic that we had at POP.

Now they are grown & it’s me & DH, who has never been. It’s more about location and more of a quiet compact resort.
