What do you like to make in your Crock Pot?

I just did this recipe for my family and they all gave it a thumbs up.

Slow Cooker Chicken Curry

8-10 chicken thighs (I used boneless skinless)
1 jar of your favorite salsa
1 medium onion chopped
2 Tbs. curry power
1 cup sour cream

Place chicken in bottom of crockpot (mine were frozen solid and they worked fine). Pour salsa over chicken. Layer chopped onion on top. Sprinkle with 2 Tbs. curry powder. Let cook on low 8-10 hours, or on high for 5 hours. When chicken is done, remove chicken and keep it warm. Stir sour cream into the crock pot and let warm through. Place chicken back in sauce. Serve over rice.

Tip: If your curry powder is old (like mine) place the 2 Tbs. in a microwaveable bowl and microwave it for 10 seconds. This releases the oils and gives you much more flavor.

This will make your house smell heavenly all day long. Definitely a keeper.

Enjoy!

CROCKPOT APPLE CAKE DESSERT

6 apples peeled, cored and sliced
sugar
cinnamon
8 oz of yellow cake mix
1/4 c melted butter or margarine

Put slices of apples in CP. Pour half a package of dry cake mix over apples. Drizzle butter over cake mix. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture over that and cook on low 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Keep checking and it's done when the apples are soft.

I plan on trying this today, but I am a little nervous about it. How is it supost to end up? Putting the dry cake mix over the apples and not mixing in any oil or anything sounds suppect. Is it a soild cake when it is done, or more of an apple crumble? Still looking forward to it.

bumping b/c crock pot season is quickly approaching....

Does any one else have any more quick and easy crock pot meals to submit?

My taste buds thank you. :thanks:

(looking for no milk or eggs dinner for DD with allergy, so that would be good.)

Here are some that I enjoy that don't contain milk or eggs.

French Dip

Rump Roast
1 can beer (can be non-alcoholic of you want)
1 can beef broth (or 2 beef bouillon cubes and 1 cup water instead)
1 envelope onion soup mix

Cook in crock pot all day. When ready to eat - slice in thin strips.
Serve on toasted hoagie rolls.

Brown Sugar Chicken

2 lbs. boneless chicken pieces
1 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup vinegar
1/4 cup lemon lime soda
2-3 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon black pepper

Place chicken pieces in your slow cooker. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over the top of chicken. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Serve with rice.

Scalloped Potato and Pork Chop Casserole

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons Seasoned Salt , divided
4 boneless pork chops, well trimmed of fat (about 1 pound)
1 1/2 teaspoons Thyme Leaves
1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
3 large potatoes, peeled and sliced 3/4 to 1 inch thick (about 6 cups)
1 large onion, thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
2 Bay Leaves
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) chicken broth

Layer half the potatoes into slow cooker; add half the onions; then sprinkle with half the seasoning mixture and bay leaves. Arrange pork chops, overlapping, over the onions. Continue layering with the remaining potatoes, onions, and remaining seasoning mixture.

3. Whisk together chicken broth and wine, if desired, with the flour; slowly pour over the ingredients in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 hours or low for 8 hours. Add frozen peas and carrots the last 30 minutes of cook time. Sauce will thicken upon standing. Remove bay leaves before serving.

Place chicken in your slow cooker. Mix together onions, soy sauce, wine and water. Pour over top of chicken. Cover and cook on low until chicken is tender (3 to 5 hours). I love fall and winter. It's a good excuse to break out the crock pot and makes cooking dinner so much easier. There is nothing like coming home from work with the smell of food in the air!!!

I put beef ribs with bottle of BBQ sauce, roast w/ can of cream of mushroom soup, & chicken breast w/ cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup and brown rice are my favorites. Can't wait to hear what everyone else loves so I can get more ideas!!!

I forgot one of our favorites that I got out of a cookbook years ago.

BBQ Ribs and Beans

5-6 pounds Country Style Ribs, or boneless ribs
2 bottles BBQ sauce (regular, not hickory)
1 jar Jalapeño Jelly (don't let this scare you. It adds a great taste but doesn't make it hot.)
1 onion, chopped
2-3 cans kidney beans (I have also used pinto and black beans, with great success)

Dredge ribs in flour and brown. Mix together bbq sauce jelly. Put beans, ribs and onions in crockpot and mix in sauce. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Makes a great dinner with some cornbread and a salad.

My families favorite, is super simple too.

Chicken Breast (boneless, skinless)
Family size Cream of Chicken soup

We use various cooking times (and "temps") all depends on when I start it. It is super moist and the kids can not seem to get enough of it. For the five of us, I have to use 7-8 breast to make sure there is a chance for leftovers.

The absolute best thing I have EVER had in crock pot was some boneless pork spare ribs with a packet of seasoning that I bought at the Albuquerque airport. I now order them by the dozen. It is called Pig Boy Willy famous carne adovada mix. I don't know if I'm allowed to list phone numbers on here...but if anyone wants it, pm me:)

WOO HOO!!! Thanks!

I am trying a new recipe today and if it turns out good I will post it!

***Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese

8oz. box of macaroni-cooked and drained
3 cups shredded Mild cheddar cheese (I used sharp this time)
1 cup shredded Mozzerella cheese
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 stick margarine
1 large can evaporated milk
Salt and Pepper

Melt margarine in crock pot.
Layer macaroni and cheese.
Beat eggs and add both milks.
Pour into crockpot over macaroni and cheese.
Top with remaining cheese.
Turn crockpot on low and cook 3 hours.

I can't wait to try this. I only wish I'd seen it before I put the potato soup in the crockpot this morning! :rolleyes1

My two favorites.....

Chicken Noodle Soup

6-8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts cut into 1 inch cube
1 onion chopped
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
1 14 oz. can chicken broth (I actually use 32 oz. for more liquid)
Egg noodles, cooked

Combine all ingredients except the egg noodles in the crock pot. Cover. Cook on low for 8-10 hrs. or high for 4-5 hrs. Stir in cooked egg noodles before serving.

Spicy Beef Roast

3lb. round tip roast
1 tbs. cracked black peppercorns
3 cloves minced garlic
3 tbs. balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbs. worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. dry mustard

Rub the cracked pepper and garlic into roast. Place roast in crock pot and make several shallow slits in the top of roast. Combine rest of ingredients and pour over roast. Cover. Cook on low 8-10 hrs. or on high for 4-5 hrs.
Note: My family loves cooked carrots, so I add cut up (about 1 inch size) carrots when there is about 1 1/2 hrs. left of cooking time.

Wow!! All of these sound great! Now, how to choose which one to make first! :)

I cook "roast" beef in mine. I put the roast in and cook it all day, I only add butter and salt/pepper. It is delicious! My best friends sister was painting our house in the spring and I fixed this for dinner one night, she still talks about how good it was.

Ok..this quote was from two years ago..but if you're still on board....how much butter are we talking here? I think simplicity is wonderful!

One of my families favorite meals is a "stroganoff" I make.

In the crockpot I put:

A chuck round roast
1-2 packets of dry onion soup mix
A couple of cans of cream of mushroom soup
A can of water

I let it cook for several hours, then I add a small tub of sour cream. Let it cook for another hour, then we shred the meat, boil some egg noodles, and voila - stroganoff! My kids love it.

so many great recipes, so little time! I'm going to make a grocery list for quite a few of these! THANK YOU!!

Here is a crock pot recipe for Pot roast that will be the last you will ever try!

3 pound roast (or 2 smaller ones)
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
1 envelope italian salad dressing mix
1 envelope brown gravy mix
1/2 cup water

Place the roast in the crock pot. In a small bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients together, and pour over the roast. Cook on low about 6-8 hours depending on your crock pot.

I usually put some carrots on the bottom of the crockpot first, and then do the meat and gravy, and then put potatoes on top and let it all cook.

This is so yummy!!!

What a great thread.

Here's our favorite crockpot recipe:

ITALIAN SAUSAGE

5-7 Italian sausages (i use mild)
2 cloves garlic chopped
1 med onion choped
1 green pepper sliced
some olive oil
1 -28 oz can Contadina sauce
1- 15 oz can Contadina sauce
1 small can tomato paste

saute onions with some olive oil, add to crock pot with tomato sauce,
paste, and grn. peppers

brown Italian sausages with garlic, and add into crock pot. Cook for 4-6
hrs.

they will get real tender, can cook them less if you want them less tender.
I like mine so that you dont even need a knife.

*serve with your choice of pasta
*you can always add more garlic to sauce if you like it more garlicy- I do!!
*if you like it thicker, add some puree or paste; thinner, add water, but
its thin already
