I always hear a lot about the crowds and heat......what's something positive about going to WDW during the summer?

I'm thinking the longer hours could be a plus!:sunny:

How about knowing that pool/water park time is assured? Even if it's raining, it's warm enough to swim (as long as there's no lightning, of course!).

The longer park hours. You have time to go back and take afternoon rests and naps plus more time to go to the pools. Water parks being open.

I like to go in the summer b/c the kids are out of school. I don't have to worry about what they may miss, when the state testing is held or all of the make up work. :)

There's nothing like the parks at night when it's very warm - and the fact that you can enjoy them longer.

This is great. I've never gone in the summer before and I was trying to be positive. This is really helping! Keep it going....

We love the parks at night. DH and I are not the type to turn in early.

no worrying about jumping back into the school/work routine as soon as we get back

No guessing what to pack...it will be Hot!!

No worrying about not getting time in the pool. It will be Hot!!

Because of the long park hours we can take a LONG afternoon break to enjoy the pool and maybe even nap.

We go every July, and although it is crowded, it is still well worth it. We head over to the parks early, then leave for lunch and a swim, relax, then head back in the evening when the crowds are less and it isn't so hot. The water parks are great, the water is warm, and we enjoy taking out water mouses onto the lakes. Last year we rented a pontoon and the family had a great time. The late hours are a plus, and if you like Fantasmic, the second show is less crowded so you don't have to get there quite so early. We take a spray bottle into the parks to cool us down when it gets really hot, and there are lots of fountains to play in if you want to get wet. Can't wait to get there in a couple of weeks!

The biggest plus for us are the extended hours, the water rides and the pool being warm and E RIDE nights. We used to go in the winter and often froze. Do you know what it feels like to ride splash mountain when it is 35 degrees? Trust me, it was not pleasant.

Yes, it is hot, humid and you get thunder storms. To us, the pluses far out weigh the minuses. Oh, we are going in 18 days!! Can't wait.

I'd say the longer park hours are a definite plus.

I'm not a huge fan of heat, so I can't spin that. I was never one who liked hanging out in the pool...the hottub is much more my speed.

However I like it to be a little warm...the prospect of riding Splash Mountain in freezing cold weather is a little daunting to me.

...This will be a lot different! I'm looking forward to late nights in the parks!

Umm, the heat and the crowds! We love the hot weather and think the crowds make the parks seem more festive - call me crazy. The hours are longer, there's no guessing about the weather, and especially E-Ride Nights. We could go pretty much anytime during the year, but my favorite time to go is July (I do like December as a 2nd trip because of the Christmas festivities, but not as much as July).

Longer park hours, more time to plan and relax. More options for when and where to do things and after all; we're on vacation at WDW!!!

We like it because we are both teachers and it is just easier. We like to extra hours too, always making a return to the resort in the afternoon and then back to the parks in the evening. Going in the summer allows us to plan and pack better and not have the rush of "back to real life" when we return.

we have been there every July for the passed 12 years and will be there for a week this July also. Everything posted so far is true and I'd like to add one more thing. A couple of years ago we made a 2nd trip in late Oct. Beautiful weather but it just wasn't as dynamic without the crowds and the heat,it was just too calm and quiet ! I know that sounds crazy..........but :teeth:

Swimming
Only having to pack shorts
Knowing you wont be cold(we wore mittens & winter jackets in Dec)
Not having to worry about the kids missing school

I love going in the summer because there's more of everything.

More entertainment -- during slow times there won't be as many fun little things happening around the parks like singers and other entertainers.

More cars, boats, etc on the rides -- the lines might be longer, but they go faster because of added capacity.

More hours, fireworks, parades -- I hate being kicked out of the MK at 7:00!! And I hate realizing that Spectromagic is only on the one day of the week I won't be there!!

Summer heat doesn't bother me -- rain is more of an annoyance. Just don't forget your raingear!!

The summer is good if, like me, you cannot go to Disney very often. Few rides off line for repair, parades every day and sometimes twice, long hours meaning you can actually relax and have a holiday and a swim!

I also agree Cinderella37 that bigger crowds is a plus in some ways. An empty Disney park seems wrong. Obviously if you can't move it is unpleasant as is seeing stressed out people, but being one of thousands of enjoying the Disney magic is great!

I think the key to Summer is planning - if you know what you are doing then the advantages make it a great time to go. Of course, if you don't then it can be a miserable time. I really understand why some people come back after a Summer holiday hating Disney.

Hopefully not me :D

I've been in Oct, Nov, Dec, and Aug. I don't like being cold in WDW. It's just downright un-natural!! But, heat/humidity can be dealt with. You can swim all the time. Everyplace is A/C. Hours are longer. I didn't think I was going to like the summer in WDW but I was proven wrong. We really liked it. No sweatshirts, no mittens, no hats...should I continue??
