What do you keep the thermostat at during the summer?

78 round the clock, with ceiling fans on in the rooms we are in. electric bill at it's highest is around $250, that's for a 2500 sq/ft two story with a new a/c (18 months old) and new windows that reflect heat. I think it's pretty good and we are comfortable. That may be b/c it feels like 100+ outside with the humidity.

74 at night, 77 during the day.

Our house gets really cold downstairs if I set it any cooler, but our upstairs bedrooms stay warm.

We keep the house right around 70 year round. I used to be able to handle warmer temps but now that I have full blown MS, I can't handle heat. I have to stay cool or I'm a wreck.

Wow- I would be pretty warm in many of your houses- I don't have central air but have one giant unit in the living room that I keep set on 62 that does most of the first floor and the one in my bedroom I keep set at 60 so when I sleep it is nice and cold in there with the door shut.

I keep the heat set at 65/63 in the winter.
In the summer the air kicks in at 72. But that's actually hotter than I like but it does save some $$ We save a TON in the winter. I couldn't believe how much just a few degrees changed how much we spent on Gas.

74* 24/7. Once in a great while I will get too hot cooking or cleaning and will turn it down to 70* while I finish up. Thank goodness my house is very energy efficient and our electric bill isn't too expensive.

72 for the central air.
If I had my way it would be 70, but DH feels the cold.

Our thermostats are off in the summer. Thermostats are for heat only, and certainly don't need heat.

I think if you had central air you would not need to set it that low. I think it's different with those individual window units.

Yes it is different. The rest of the house doesn't get down to 60 but my bedroom does. I don't like the heat set over 62 in the winter either so that is the temp I am good at. My daughter comes in my bedroom with a comforter wrapped around LOL.

72-74 in summer. 68-70 in winter.

Our thermostat controls both the furnace and the C/A, so yes, we have it on during the summer.

Our air is set anywhere between 74 and 76. Depends on how I'm feeling that day. :) It's typically lower at night for sleeping.

I think our's is at 73° pretty much all the time. We have a programmable one but don't use that feature in the summer. We used to use it but I didn't notice any difference in the electric bill. I wish we could just open windows at night but it usually doesn't get much cooler outside then mid 70's in the summer and often doesn't cool down lower than 80. Also, we have horrid humidity most of the summer and that is worse then the 90° heat.

central air from May-Sept set at 70 during the day and 69 at night.
heat set at 69 during the day and 63 at night

We live in Illinois and have what is called "Power Smart Pricing" through Ameren. Therefore, our prices are different every hour of every day. The highest rates are typically from noon to 5 pm. So, we kick our therostat up during that time to save alot of money. If we are home and it gets too hot, we will manually set it down a little. The difference in price can be significant during the peak usage hours. If you live in Illinois and you are interested -- here is the site.

Off here in WA :rotfl:
Off here too. Then again, we don't have central A/C because our house was built in 1917 and we have radiators for heating in the winter. That's great for my allergies but summers are a little hot. The window unit goes in today.
