What do you get someone who has been marries 25 years?

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary this summer - our immediate family threw a wonderful barbacue for us - complete with cake that had our wedding pic on it (baby blue tux - yikes!!) and toasting glasses.

Some of the gifts that we received were:

Collage frame from our kids
cash
restaurant gift certificates
photo frame and album - pics from the party filled 1/2 so I'm telling everyone we are saving the 2nd 1/2 of the album for our 50th - lol!!

Well, I got my sister and BIL a silver toilet paper stand. She LOVED it.

My BIL had just finished re-doing their bathroom. All the fixtures were silver. I saw the beautiful woodwork on the walls, and just knew they were not going to like screwing in a toilet paper holder. I was right!

I would suggest maybe a giftcard to a Linens and Things or someplace where they can go and pick out something for their home. A couple married 25 years may need to do some updating.

We had it all planned for my parents 25th anniversary... we were going to buy them a long weekend in the Bahamas. Then, they told us that their 25th anniversary surprise was going to be my sister! Yep, they had a baby for their 25th anniversary! Instead of buying them a vacation, we bought them what all new parents (the youngest was 15) need... a camcorder.

Finally sent them on a cruise for their 40th a couple weeks ago.

Insofar as tacky gifts go... my aunt and uncle celebrated 25 years of marriage the week before one of my other sister's wedding. They got a silver ice bucket that was filled with $25 in quarters. It was regifted to my sister and BIL. They at least should have waited a while before regifting it... or changed the amount of money in it to not make it so obvious.

I think that a gift certificate to a restaurant would be nice. OR if you dont' want it to be boring, make them a gift basket for a night in and include, gift card for a movie store, microwave popcorn, soda, movie theater candy. If you want it nicer, you can put it in a salad bowl and add things to make a romantic dinner too, like spagetti sauce adn noodles and a bottle of wine, maybe some breadsticks, etc. Or you could give them a night out with a gift certificate to dinner and one to the movies. Maybe go in with another couple and split the cost.
