What do you get for paying at touring plans.com?

My short answer is:
Sanity.

I'd never take a trip without the lines app and my personalized plan. The room request fax and views from each and every hotel room are the cherry on top.

We haven't had a trip to WDW, DLR, or UO without a personalized plan. I can't imagine going without it either. We use both Lines and MDE, usually one of us brings up each and we compare.

I don't think I saw it mentioned (read the thread very quickly) but I actually found the price of my Disney tickets to be the cheapest going through a link I accessed through my touring plans subscription. I compared a bunch of options (Disney, Undercover Tourist with mousesavers discount, Tickets At Work, AAA) and ended up purchasing through The Official Ticket Center which was the cheapest.

Definitely look for a promo code to knock off a few dollars.

Didn't see this mentioned, (but I didn't read all pages) but they also have a dining finder. Found a few of my ADRs using their system. Missed BOG 3x, my fault, didn't see the texts every time.
I use the TP every trip, and have used the room request 2x, (3 in 2 weeks :)) and our room has always been right in the area requested.

I love the personalized plans. Taking a few minutes pre-trip to make one was easy and we went on auto pilot ftmp while in the parks. With young kids, it was great to have a plan. They loved looking at what was next - and it stopped many a fight about who got to pick what we were doing next.

Another good feature is if you do deviate or something happens (for us when rain closed some rides), a few clicks on the app and I got a new plan for the rest of the day.

Oh wow - thank you so much for this thread/information. I've been subscribing to touring plans and had no idea about the room request fax or help with ADRs. I do use the personalize planning feature and lines app. I'll probably spend the rest of the night looking at the savanna views at AKL for my trip in April. Thanks dis-members for cluing me in!!

Same here. We've subscribed to TP for both our '12 and '14 trips... now, it's become a matter of "tradition" LOL so of course we joined for our '16 trip. I don't know if some of these things are new to TP or if I've just never taken advantage of them (bc I was not aware they existed) in the past, but I sure am glad I read this thread!!!

I love the Lines app. For example, during our last trip my kids really wanted to ride Buzz in the afternoon. The queue said is was a 40 min wait, but Lines said it was a 20 min wait so we hoped in line, even though the lines were outside the ride. We got on the ride in 15 min. We've had this happen many times on trips with Lines.

Whaaaaaat? How did I not know this? I thought all the outside Disney dining reservation finders got shut down. This is amazing!! I've been trying to get better times for some of our ADRs but I'm not dedicated enough to search 50 times every day. This will be so helpful!

Well, most of them did, and it's been remarked that getting ADR's seems much easier this year because of that. But, since Touring Plans doesn't charge for this service (it's currently in beta testing mode, and is free to anyone who makes a basic, free account with them), their legal team feels that it won't be shut down like the others. I hope it won't be, either. They are not making money from it and are still helping people find reservations, pretty clever. I pay for a subscription because I like the personalized touring plans and the Lines app, which I found to be very accurate last August.

I hope they don't get shut down, either. It's awesome they offer it for free - I wasn't expecting it to actually allow me to save requests since I haven't paid for my subscription yet. Oh Touring Plans, I love you so!

I also really like their online menus. The Lines app also has menus, but it also has the ability to search for something in all food places in the park. TP and Lines also tend to have the menus for food carts, which MDE usually doesn't. It's great when you are looking for that darn churro cart:)

I believe the ones that got shut down were actually making ADRs in bulk and then selling them off. That's different than a service that checks for availability and provides alerts, which is what TP does.

I use it also for the Lines app. I've found it more accurate than any other system, including what's posted at WDW. They also encourage users to post pictures from their rooms (I did that on our last trip). You can then have a look at a particular room in any WDW resort and see if someone has posted a picture and if you like that view, you can then request that room.

They calculate a standby time based on times that people post as well as their algorithm using historical data. You can submit the posted time as well as set a timer on when you enter a standby line and then you post the actual waiting time just before you get on the ride.

As with other systems, they also have crowd level estimates and a section on the website where you can put in your plans to refer to later. I find it well worth the $10/annual fee; if you renew early you can often get a discount on it. I've had it for several years and also added the DL Lines app which I got a discount on because I added it at the same time as the WDW one.

Is 20% off the best coupon code for touringplans.com? There is a 20% off code on Mousesavers. Wondering if there is a better coupon out there. TIA!

It should show up on your dashboard if you have a trip started already on there. I usually give multiple rooms.. at least that is what I did for my Nov 2015 trip and I was given my 2nd room choice, it was awesome!!! I have already set up our fax for this years September trip, at the Beach Club. I requested 3 different rooms and explained why we wanted to request them in the additional notes. 5 days before you check-in, Touring Plans will fax the request for you automatically and send you a confirmation that it has been received. If you have a trip set up on TP's now, look at your dashboard and it should say "Requesting Room" and next to that it says "click to find a room". A map of the resort will come up with every room and you click on the room you'd like to request. You can begin configuring the fax at anytime and save it. Looks like we arrive on the same day at BC! We have 191 days to go too!

I don't see this on my dashboard for my December trip. Can someone describe where on the page it should be? Thanks!

If you have a trip started, it should show up on your dashboard, right at the top. It will have the name of your trip (you can name it yourself), under that it should say Walt Disney World Resort - with your dates, under that it should say the resort name, and under that it should say Requesting Room and that is where you click to find a specific room at your resort. This is all right above the days of your trip that should be listed.

Gotcha. I'm going to "that other place" though. Maybe they don't do it there.
