What do you find worthwile at Costco?

We just purchased a Costco membership primarily so I could order my new eyeglasses. What other items do Disers find to be more reasonable than the usual grocery store or Walmart? Does anyone think the items are better quality? TIA Grammy

I go to Costco every other month and get the following:

Poland Springs 24oz sports top water bottles are $6(ish) for 24 bottles (that's a STEAL!)

I love the kirkland large black plastic trash bags - they don't rip and hold TONS! The best trash bags in the world.

I get the dawn dishwasher bubbles there, though I don't know if it's cheaper, but I use them A LOT and like to have the large box.

Other things I *may* get but not every trip:
They have good pizza!
Their bakery is AWESOME!
Sometimes they have good deals on gilette razors (for me and dh both)
Sometimes they have the tampons I use
They often have packs of socks or carter's brand pj's or one piece outfits at good prices.

I mostly keep my membership for birthday cakes and the hot dog pop deal.

I find batteries are usually a good deal too. I also like their frozen skinless chicken breasts. . .I don't think they are cheaper, but they are better trimmed than the ones you get at the grocery store. I also like to keep my eye out for clearance clothes.

I almost forgot about their muffins. My kids rarely let me out of their without a package of those.

I love the Kirkland paper towels.
I also love the Kirkland tuna & canned salmon. They are not the cheapest on tuna but the quality is worth it to me.

They have a vidalia onion salad dressing that my hubby & I love & I have never found it anywhere else.

Beyond that I find many of their coupon deals are good. I buy Oil of Olay & gilette razors with coupons. & I bought dishwasher tablets last shopping trip buy one get one.

Their milk is a good price, but I hate the shape of the gallon.

Their flowers are beautiful & priced great.

I go to Costco about once per month.

Their house brand (Kirkland) gets pretty good reviews and provides a good price and high quality.

Try a few things and see if you like them. We love their plastic wrap. We often get their paper towels.

The specials can be really great sometimes. They had a super low price on dishwasher soap packs a while back. They were a steal.

We like the variety and quality of things they offer during the Christmas time.

We bought our 32 inch LCD from them.

If you buy any electronics from them they add at least an extra year to the manufacturer's warranty and they have great prices. I buy baby wipes there and pull ups, also pamesan cheese! Their best deals are with coupons so make sure you go to the front desk and get them until you get them in the mail!
Oh and I think their meat is very high quality. If we want to get a good steak that is where we go! One of the best New York Strips ever!

Hallowe'en costumes (very good quality!)
every November & March (before Christmas and Easter) - girl's "fancy" dresses, the type with big, poufy skirts that little girls love
jumbo dog beds, very very well made
yoga pants (a friend who is a yoga instructor actually told me about these, she prefers them over her Lululemons, can you imagine?)

And we go about once a month too.

They have large tubs of Fage yogurt...much cheaper than I can find elsewhere.

I go at least once a week and spend more than I need. (of course) We buy most everything there . . .bread, milk, oj, etc. Also the electronics are great, I order checks through them, travel is the cheapest than any other travel agency I've found, etc. etc.

The very best part of Costco you will find is that they take anything back and usually way past the time you would feel comfortable returning something. No questions asked!

Oh and of course, the very best part - SAMPLES!!!!

I have noticed when Consumer Reports does selections of common items the Kirkland Signature private label of Costco almost always rates very high while WalMart's private label tends to rate very low.

A few years ago Cook's Magazine had an article on whole tenderloins. First place was a specialty brand that was about $40 per pound and Costco's, at about $11, was second. And there were about a diozen brands listed.

This ties in to the fact that Costco has about the lowest employee turnover of any major retail chain which means they have very high employee satisfaction, which tends to be a good indicator of quality.

Kirkland dog food is fabulous quality and you can't beat the price. As someone who used to combine Blue Buffalo and Nutro, and spent over $100 per month I save the cost of the membership in dog food alone in just one month. I also buy their dog beds, I love their flowers ( it's the only place I buy flowers but for the price they're just so pretty )..

I was at Costco today and there was a "special sale" of Margauritaville shoes/shirts/baseball caps. I bought DH a pair of leather slip on shoes in a size 14 which are impossible to find. And I only paid $43.99 for them.

Their milk and their gas is a great deal...I could go on and on. But, suffice it to say- I love Costco!
