What do you eat Thanksgiving Eve?

You know what?
Our T Eve tradition used to revolve around the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Bring the kids wearing pjs under their snowsuits to 72nd St near the Museum of Natural History and watch the parade balloons get blown up. Amazing how many patches they have!
That held until the city started banning people from congregating after 9:00 pm so the residents of neighboring buildings could get some 💤.

Our Thanksgiving is screwy based on family dynamics. We go to DH's family on Thanksgiving day in the afternoon. My family does lunch on Saturday to accommodate my son being with his dad and my brother and sis in law being with her family. So Eve is nothing special. DH is a freak with regard to his diet and eating the same 15 foods without deviation so I'll make myself a regular dinner as usual :).

I have no idea what we will have but my daughter has worked at a pizza place for the last 5 years and Night Before Thanksgiving is one of their busiest nights of the year

We are from south Louisiana, so oyster patties for appetizer followed by gumbo. Will make it Tuesday. Always tastes better day 2, and our our daughter and her husband from NYC get in at our nearby little airport after 7 pm so it will be a long day.

I didn’t realize Thanksgiving Eve was a thing in the USA!

In Canada people just have their big turkey dinner one day on the long weekend.

Thanksgiving is very low key in Canada.
I don't think it's really "a thing" -- it's definitely not holiday-level. But, I think for a lot of people, they've cleaned their house, or maybe they've started prepping make-ahead dishes for Thanksgiving day, so you don't really want to mess up the kitchen even more by prepping anything fancy for dinner the night before. So I think a lot of people like to either do something easy or go out.

It isn't. I just named it that. I take full responsibility!! :teeth:

Before long I'm sure this thread might get moved if we start really getting crazy over this......... :rolleyes1

I think we do over obsess about Thanksgiving. I mean, it's one big dinner with probably a few more people than most dinners. We have the Today show on in the morning and they've been talking about various recipes for weeks.
