what do you do?

My family is not really much of a Disney family, so I'm usually the one responsible for "keeping the magic alive" despite the fact that it really has no effect on the way they feel about Disney.

First and foremost, I listen to two podcasts; the DIS Unplugged (my favorite) and WDW Radio w/ Lou Mongello (great show, but I really do prefer the antics of the roundtable.)

Next, I order a vacation planning DVD every year even if we're not going to WDW. It usually takes a couple of nights to get through but I do go back and watch certain parts many times throughout the year. I also read my Unofficial Guide from cover to cover several times per year.

Last, but certainly NOT least, I post on the DIS. This is such a friendly and informative community, and I honestly cannot imagine life without being a part of it. It's difficult to talk to my family about Disney because half the time they have no clue what I'm saying (last year I suggested we stay at the Poly [and I actually said "Poly"] and they thought there was some sort of polyester hotel on Disney property) and I love voicing my thoughts and opinions with people who share an interest/hobby.

Thanks so much DIS! :thumbsup2

Don't make his head swell.... ;)

We make a countdown chain (numbered up to 50 days). I have it saved in excel and print it out each time we go to WDW. Emma loves ripping a chain everyday and talking about the different pictures on it.

First, let me say congrats on your baby (which I assume has been born since I don't see a countdown ticker anymore).

Next, does this mean you are dpuck1998's wife? If so, I will try not to make his head swell; however, please realize how many neurotic Disney mom's dream of a husband of his Disney caliber. Good pick! You did it right!:thumbsup2

Wow! We have a lot in common (although these things probably are common in this community). Those are the two podcasts I listen to as well with my preference being "the crew". I also order a vacation planning DVD every time there is a new one, regardless of whether we are going. We have a small home library now of all the vacation planning DVDs and DVC DVDs over the years. Every time I have to sit down and clip all of my children's nails (with 3 kids that is 6 hands and 6 feet . . . it takes a while), we pick out one of the vacation planning DVDs to watch.

But, me being the mom, I have a heavy influence over my family's Disney persuasion. My children (all 8 and under) are very fluent in Disney-ease (terms like "the Poly" are basic English for them). They readily understand all the acronyms on the Dis as well (BLT, BCV, MK, DHS, etc.). I am sorry that you don't have a family member to share this bond with:sad1: . Hopefully, we can all try to fill in the gap for you, Simon.

Don/Jen -- Either of you care to comment on this? What about Evan's dad? :teeth:

Your kids are SOOOO lucky! My parents are more into "educational" vacations... UGHH!! Honestly, why not just stay home and watch the History Channel?! Anyway, the DIS has really filled that gap along with the great members. :)

Disney is SOOOO educational. How can they not see it? :confused3 You can cover some history in learning about Walt's biography and the creation of The World. You can learn about geography in Epcot in the World Showcase. Science can also be covered in Future World. Art is amply covered in the animation part of DHS. And math can be learned as you budget for the vacation ( in our house we make graphs and all:rotfl: ). We now have the Wide World of Sports for physical education too.

Hmmm . . . something tells me that they are not married and that I haven't been around long enough to know some funny things about dpuck1998.:confused3 But I am still impressed with his Cinderella waffles and homemade Dole whips.

I know, right?! :confused3

They honestly don't understand the concept of "life" education, only career education... when the @$%& am I going to need to know about disgusting ancient medical practices?! Jeez, I swear...

I listen to Disney music, watch Disney movies, read the DIS, plan upcoming Disney vacations, etc. We have Disney art around our house. I also have and do Disney-related things in my 2nd grade classroom. :)

When DS19 moves into his own place, I have plans to turn his room into a Disney-themed room. I am already envisioning what I want to do!!

We are known by our family, friends and coworkers as "Those Disney People"

We have a large "museum" of Disney collectibles both at home and at the office.

My computer's screensaver is all of our photos of Disney from may years.

Well we aren't married, just good disboard buddies, although Jen is "up for anything once...and twice if she likes it"

My significant other isn't much a of disney junkie, she love going to disney, but she doesn't care about the planning (but she loves the fact that I plan everything for us)

We work well together, because is we planned it together we might not stay married!!

we watch our home movies from past trips to disney. listen to disney music, watch disney dvds. Both the boys have a lot of character tshirts which they always want to wear.

whenever i go into town i have to have a little walk around the disney store as well. That is aside from the obvious looking on the dis and listening to the podcast!!

I watch Disney movies with DD regularly. :thumbsup2 The computer room where we DIS is Disney themed. We have a digital picture frame that has 1000 pics from our last trip constantly running. Yea I know, I take a lot of pictures. Every cup of coffee consumed is done so with a character mug from the World of Disney. DW insists on using my sorcerer Mickey mug...much to my dislike. I listen to Disney pod casts while running and working out pretty much every day. We never get tired of discussing our next trip or the deals DW gets on all things Disney. Like the rest of you, we can't get enough of the Mouse! :cool1:

:scared: O M G, I can't stop laughing....:lmao:

 I am obviously not in on this joke. But it has been fun to provide everyone with so much entertainment.:) dpuck1998, why do you bring about such a reaction?:confused3

I (along with Tracy) e-mailed Don's wife to convince her to go on the podcast cruise. Since then Don has been ever so grateful. Also, during my pregnancy I enjoyed torturing him with the graphic details of pregnancy and child birth (see the DVCsince02 baby watch thread).

Also, Don's from Michigan and I'm in Delaware.
