What do you do with the heels

in your loaf of sliced bread? I am not prod to say that most of the time I just throw them out. If it's the last slices and I need bread, I will be tricky for DH's lunch and turn them around so the "end" is inside the sandwich and the soft part is out. It doesn't fool him at all. I could save them and make bread crumbs, but I don't use those very often.

At our old house I used to tear them up and give them to the birds, but we don't have as many birds here.

What do you do? Maybe I will be inspired.

DH will eat them but I won't. A lot of times they end up thrown out. I think I'll start feeding them to the birds (where Tink can watch them!)

When the kids were little, I could use it in a PB&J sandwich by spreading the PB on the "bad" side of the bread and they didn't know the difference. But they're too old and smart for me now.

Nobody likes the heel.

I freeze them to make stuffing with. I can't believe I of all people posted about cooking anything!

I give it to the dog. I usually wrap her pill in something like bread or cheese, so I'll use the heel for it.

I don't like them as a sandwich, but they are actually pretty yummy as toast. The curved edges hold more topping.

We call them the poison ends. DH eats them because no one else likes them.

In my family, we fight over that part of the bread. Everyone loves the ends of the bread, especially my mom.
