What do you do with the giant gap between board and pulldown bed

The small pulldown bed in the living room that sleeps one, we used it for the first time on our last trip. I was unprepared for the giant gap between the bed and the decorative board along the wall.

We ended up having 10 pillows delivered to fill it in. I’m not sure if there’s an easier way to make this safer for my child to sleep next to. She still requires a high guard rail, which we brought one. Would a second one fit on that side?

The pillows worked great but required so many. Wondering what others do for it?

. Sorry I thought I was on the cruise board.

What resort was this in? All of the ones I've seen are flush to the back wall - there's either no gap, or a gap measuring maybe a few inches. From your photo, that looks like a gap of a foot or more, and doesn't look like any pull down bed I've seen! (Riviera, Beach, Boardwalk, and Boulder Ridge). That looks like a totally different fold down bed system.

Looks like BLT. That is a VERY large gap, nothing like I've seen before. Maybe ask for a different mattress? That just doesn't look right. I was going to suggest a blanket or two, but with the gap that large, the pillows make more sense. Or a second guard rail, depending on how you affix it. It almost looks like a crib mattress used for the small pull down.

It was Bay Lake Tower. I felt like the gap was huge! She could completely fit in it. I originally got 5 pillows and had to request more because it didn’t fill it

It was Bay Lake Tower. This was the first time we’ve ever used the bed so had no experience of what it should be like. It was a very big gap! No where near the wall. I had originally asked for 5 pillows and had to ask for more because it didn’t fill the gap

The first single Murphy beds installed in BWV, BCV, and VWL all have a short, narrow mattress that’s smaller than a twin. At some point DVC started installing larger single Murphy beds that take a regular twin mattress. From your photo, I’m guessing the BLT bed was built for a twin but for some reason yours has the smaller mattress. IOW, someone put the wrong mattress on that bed frame.

If you’re still there, I’d ask for a replacement mattress. Ask for management to come look, if you get pushback. If you’ve checked out, I’d email this report with your photos to DVC via the member website.

Oh that’s crazy seems like a safety hazard. We stayed a couple weeks ago. I did a cash stay who should we email for that?
