What do you do with the baby?

DW and I are taking our 1 year old on his first trip to WDW. We are staying at the GF in a garden view room. I've stayed here several times before, but never with a baby. For those of you who have, where do you put the crib? He sleeps well at night, but I'm concerned of how we can keep up even minimal nightime activity without waking him up. Any suggestions on what has worked for you in the past?

Not familiar with the room setup, but I know people that have set the crib/pack&play up in the bathroom or closet area of larger suites with a monitor. Are there any curtained areas that would muffle the light and sound?

A friend of mine put her daughter's crib in the closet - no joke. She would clear all the stuff out of it, hangers and the like and set the baby's crib up in it. She would leave the doors open but that way the baby was out of the traffic area and had a little protection from light and noise.

The last time DD2 used a crib when we were traveling, we put it right at the bottom of our bed, but it was in a motel where we had a little sitting alcove with a tv so we could sit in there and read or watch tv while she slept in the main part of the room

we moved the luggage rack into the closet and set up the porta crib (which disney provides) in the space where the luggage rack had been. It stuck out a little, but you could still maneuver around the room.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)

our DD was a very light sleeper, and once awake, she'd be awake for hours. We ended up putting the portacrib in the bathtub and running down to the lobby to use the facilities.

Ended up at the Vistana for the next stay, so we could put Her Highness in her own room.

How about taking a bottle of wine out of your mini-fridge and going out onto your balcony with wind down with your husband until she is asleep?

Not sure about room setup at GF, but when we stayed at AKL with 22mo ds, we put the pack and play in the vanity area next to the bathroom. It worked out really well - it stayed dark where he was even if we had the tv on. We would generally sit out on the balcony with a drink until he fell asleep (which never took long - he was always exhausted).

One piece of advice - we brought our own pack and play from home and made sure to have his familiar blankets, animals, etc. I think this made a HUGE difference. He even napped in the afternoons this way. Good lucK! :goodvibes

Remember that Disney is the land of overstimulation for the little ones.

When we took our 1 year old we were worried about him sleeping too.

It was not a problem. He had eyes the size of dinner plates while we were in the park, and stayed awake as long as he possibly could.

He was generally out before we got back to the room. :cloud9:

One night we had a fireworks cruise in Epcot. He slept through the fireworks even though we were on a boat and it felt like we were in the middle of the show.:rotfl2:

Now that we're going back with kids that are 5 and 7 we are more worried about being quiet for them.
