Do you save it towards some extra money for vacation? Save it for christmas presents? Save it for a rainy day? Donate it?

It depends for me...this time I've been saving my change to go towards some extra spending money for my upcoming Disney vacation!

I can remember in college...I was so broke that I had to gather up my loose change so I can pay for my haircut! :rotfl:

So far I've got $50 saved!

I have two kids, what loose change? :confused3 :teeth:

The kids started collected mine and DH's loose change for vacation. They've gotten to be such good little hoarders, they can afford one family meal each when we're on vacation. It is really awesome to see them do this. :goodvibes

All our loose change goes into an empty 5 gallon water bottle, we like to call it our

"Disney Jar" :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

...thats vacation money baby!

It all depends. I started one about 2 1/2 years ago. It is a plastic "garbage can" bank that I bought at the dollar store. I thought I would have filled it and used it a year after that, but no. I do not put any pennies in there. Separate jar for that. It is about 10 inches in height and about 8 inches in diameter (more or less). I can't lift it anymore and it is almost full now to the top. I think it weights a little over 30 lbs. on my bathroom scale.

We will be on the dcl med. cruise next year. I will be cashing it in and using it for one airline ticket to Barcelona ($1,263 each) - buying 5.

Plan on starting another one right after that. Will definitely put it into some good use a few years down the road.

:thumbsup2 That's awesome!

I had one of those coca cola bottle shaped ones like they sell at Club Cool in Epcot and filled it. I would never pay with change, always with bills, to get change to put in it. When I emptied it I had $1200!!! I've started filling it again and this time I'm only putting dimes and quarters in it. I will use pennies and nickels to pay with so that I can get quarters or dimes back for the jar.

It also helped build their math skills. Counting loose change became a life lesson in math. Nothing helps a child understand math, like hands-on money problems.

It has been in a big jar for the last 15 years, just collecting. One of these days I have to count it all.

We have 2 jars one just for pennies and one for the rest. We're saving it to see how much there is when we go back to Disney in 2 years.

We did it last year and it was our spend money. Right now we have more than the last time we emptied it. :cool1: Last time there was over $800 in it.

Disney money right now.......when that is over......just rainy day money I guess.... :confused3

My DH is at the bank, right now, cashing in his loose change he has been saving for our upcoming Disney trip.

When we get back from WDW, he will start saving for our Vegas trip.

I take all my loose change and dollar bills and put in OUR DISNEY JUG...big plastic water jug that sits in our bedroom. I use it for our Disney trip when we have one scheduled. Then if we dont have a trip or vacation planned, we save it until we find something to buy. :)

We have a large jar and add to it with whatever change is left from the day. I have no idea how much is there - we'll probably turn it all in before next year's vacation and use for souveniers.

All pennies, nickels, and dimes go into a coffee cup on my desk at work or in a Coke bottle bank on my son's dresser at home. When we go on vacation, we scroll them up and go to the bank. DS, 5, and DD, 12, split the money on vacation.

I feel like such a hick! Our change and dollars go in an old coffee can that I decorated....

Everyone has their fancy schmancy jugs and what not! :rotfl:

Into the MK popcorn bucket. popcorn::

Thanks to these fancy things known as check cards we hardly ever even have cash now. However, back when DH was a consultant and traveled all the time, he usually paid cash for everything, and we would put the change whenever he camr home into this huge glass novelty milk jar. He was laid off in 2002 and I counted it all up to cash in- just over $1,100 (!) which I then had to use to pay our rent for a month and a half until he could get hired in a new company. I would much rather have spent it in Disney like most of ya'll have done! :teeth:

Save all my loose change in a coffee can all year, and after Thanksgiving give it to my nephew for Christmas Shopping! Lat year it was over $300.00!!! :bounce:

At my baby shower I was given a huge plastic baby bottle bank. Its now referred to as the vacation jar. We all make contributions at the end of each day and my youngest collects from the wash and our cars. Its usually saved until our annual large vacation and we all sit around counting and rolling it. That used to be fun! Now though we just head to a Commerce bank and run it through the machine. Usually we have about $800. Its a nice bonus.
