I picked up ours at Home Depot a couple weeks ago and dh inquired as to what they were all about.

When I explained, he asked "So what do you do when you see someone with one?"

I stopped to think, and couldnt come up with anything! Wave? "Hi, Im Mom of three, nice to meet you?"

What does one typically do so I can be prepared and not look like an idiot? ;)

I don't think I will have time to get any LGM's for myself, but I pondered this as well, because I will be in DLR in two weeks and want to keep an eye out for LGM's. I suppose I will just approach someone and say, "Are you a DISboard member?" Assuming they say yes, I would say, "I'm Sherry E on the boards, and just wanted to say hi!" If they snarl and hiss at me or look at me like I am insane, I will walk the other way. Otherwise, hopefully we will chat. Actually I already know there are some DIS-ers going when I am going and I have to figure out how and when and where I can meet up with them - even for a second - in the parks!

I will probably just wave and hold up my LGMH so they know that some random stranger isn't just a little bit "off". Everyone else in the park might, but as long as the other DISer knows...........

I would think that if they are wearing a LGMH they wouldn't snarl and hiss but would be excited to be "recognized"

I know I would!

I am going to wave my arms around wildly, point excitedly to my LGMH, and scream, "I'm FoxyKendra!!!"

...but that's just me ;)

Tee hee. I mean, someone could snarl and hiss if I approach a person who ends up having nothing to do with DISboards whatsoever and just happens to have a visible green Mickey! But I would imagine they would just look at me like I was crazy (wouldn't be the first time!) and I would quickly hustle off to get on a ride! I expect all the DIS-ers want to be recognized if they are wearing the LGMH! I will have to try to get one before I go to DLR.

I put my LGM on my backpack with my screen name and DIS written on it also. You can't mistake it for something else.
I had the great experience of someone seeing it and stopping me asking if I was a DIS board member. We chatted for a minute or two - she was from Oregon and was there with her friend. The rest of our party had proceeded on their way so we had to catch up. It was fun just making a connection!

My LGMHs are almost done. It's been kind of difficult doing them so that the kids don't know what I'm doing. They think that we are not going to DLR until next year. Surprise, Surprise!!! If you run into me, I promise not to snarl and hiss!

I've never seen anyone with one.....seriously, in my 14 trips last year NO ONE had a LGMH except for me. :(

We'll be in the parks from Monday week, with my own custom-made LGMH... it's BIG, so won't be missed. I'm more than happy for someone to come up and say "hi".

If I see someone else with one, I think I'll wave mine first as a sign of "yeah we're both DISers", then go say "hi".

Cheers,
Sally :)

Ok I have read about these a little but what do you do with them? Are they samples of the paint?

We spotted Dis'er lilallybean we were on GRR in the same raft as her and her family and DBF was the one that actually spotted their LGMHs. I was too busy trying not to get soaked that I didn't even pay attention. He leans over and whispers, "hey! aren't those the crazy mickey heads from your message thing?!" lol OMG YES!! HIII!!! It was funny because I always have mine attacted to my bag and I never *expect* to see anyone with them. There's so many people at DLR, what are the chances...

Anyways, I didn't have my LGMH because it was on my bag and my bag was in the free locker.

So yeah, that's what I did when I met a Dis'er!

:)

I'm not a bit shy - last time I saw a LGMH at WDW I yelled out "Yo DIS'er!! :rotfl: We met TheWesterbergs that way and saw them at rope drop several mornings - they were great!

I also left notes on two room doors at POP that had LGMH's on the windows; it's fun!:thumbsup2

I look for LGMH's every trip. I see lots of lime green t-shirts, but no LGMH's yet. I would definitely approach a diser, to say hello. So, of you are approached by a gal with dark brown hair, with quite a few tattoos, that is me:goodvibes . I usually carry a pink back pack with a LGMH on the back. So if you see me first, come up and say hello! I will be accompanied by a very very handsome man who looks a lot like Prince Charming.
:wizard:
We are at DL a lot! So, you just never know:rotfl:

Ive never seen one but this time im going to be looking. It seems there are alot of people on here going at the same time as me so I hope I see some.

Ooh, I have seen one, and I am ashamed to say, I did "nothing"!!

I was sitting with my Hubby and kiddos on the train platform for the special seating for the parade. This was actually embarrasing for my husband, as it drew way to much attention to us. Actually the people that had the Mickey's came up to us and asked us how we had gotten that spot. I told them the story about how I had taken my boys for a tour that morning, but had somehow gotten the time wrong in my head and showed up 15 minutes too late, instead of 15 minutes early. I had burst into tears and ended up spewing my entire pack of trip woes to the poor guy at the tour gazebo, how my son had the flu, and how my hubby was at the ER for his ear and had also twisted his ankle, and now this! My boys did not know what to do, so stood there rubbing my back and telling me it was okay, they didn't want to go on a tour anyhow. The tour guide, Jamie, directed me to a private bench so I could compose my self. He went and rang up a refund for me, brought my boys pins from the tour that we had missed, brought us some special fast passes, and then had a big talk with my boys about how to "discover" the magic of Disneyland without a tour guide. It actually turned out to be an amazing experience. Then, when we were leaving, he said, just a minute, I want to do one more thing for you, and he went and got us the preferred seating. It was absolutely a magic moment. Oh gosh, just remembering that moment has made me so homesick for DL!

Anyhow, the people with the Mickey went and spoke to the CM. Then I saw that the elderly folks in their group were allowed to join us on the benches, and the younger (40-50) gal stood at the top of the stairs. And that was when I spotted the mickey head. So, in my defense, I would have had to push my way through a slew of people to say hello, which would have been even more embarrassing to my hubby.

Hi,

I am new to DisBoards so I was hoping that someone could tell me what LMGH stands for?

Thanks!:confused3

Hi, Snow White, welcome! :welcome:

LGMMH = Lime Green Mickey Mouse Heads. People who frequent these boards put them on their backpack, luggage, purses, etc. so that other people at the parks might see them and recognize a fellow DISer!

Home Depot, the hardware store chain here in the States, carries the Disney line of interior paint, and their paint chip samples are in the shape of a Mickey Mouse head, mounted on a beige background. So sometimes we go to Home Depot on the pretense that we're painting our kids' rooms and pick up a few (the official color is "Alien Green" but there's dozens of colors and a couple other good greens). Then you can glue them together, laminate them, put your user name on them and write stuff like "I DIS... do you?" I strung some green and clear pony beads to use as a pull on my backpack, with my LGMMHs attached.

There's a thread around here from a couple weeks ago where people posted their pictures.:thumbsup2

I am totally making mine this week and there are going to be 8 or 9 other Disers, at least, in the park with me if the November roll call thread is accurate, so I am expecting to see a few other LGMHs out there. I plan on just saying, "hello! We finally made it after hours and hours of planning :rotfl: ." And I agree, in such a large crowd it's nice to make a connection with someone over something.:flower3:
