What do you do when you get the munchies?

Ive been really good all week. Havent really had anything bad and Ive sat at the table for all but ONE thing all week! ( major change for me who ate at her computer a lot!)

Anyway, tonight I have the munchies, Im not hungry I dont really want to eat. I just have the munchies.

Im trying to redirect my thoughts and do something incapatable but its haaarrrddddddd *whine whine whine*


So what do YOU do when have the munchies?
 
Quit smoking herb! :p Just kidding.

I snack on carrot sticks with some lo-cal dip or eat my sun chips! I love those things!
 
Since I've been eating low-carb, a few macadamia nuts usually take care of the salty munchies for me. If I need something sweet, sugar-free jello does it for me. In the old days, it would have been half a bag of potato chips or a bowl of ice cream:eek:
 
I find, cashews or fresh veggies with hummus works for me or all natural no butter popcorn too. Anything with low sugar grams will help you through that damn munchie craving hour we all go through each day.

Oh another thing I found that works is if you pop a sugar free mint into your mouth drink a glass of water and wait 15 minutes you won't snack so much. I have also found that reading a good book (and it has to be a book, not a magazine) works for getting my mind off of food. Magazines just make me want to eat more with all their advertisements and stuff.
 

my nightly downfall has been that bag of lowfat popcorn - about 210 calories but I work it into my daily calorie allowance. I know it's "empty" calories but Im still covering all my nutrients/etc with the other foods I eat throughout the day. Im on a lowfat diet, not Atkins.
 
I'm all for the popcorn too if I find myself wanting to mindlessly graize. But I think what I have is less calories than that. There are those mini bags that could help cut it down.


But if I find that I want something particular, no matter how "bad"
i need to just go ahead and have a little - even if its 5 chocolate chips if I want chocolate- because otherwise I eat one "good" treat after another until I'm way over what I would be with the teaspoon of peanut butter or whatever.
 
Id have trouble stopping at the 5 choc chips

the other night I had an oatmeal raisin cookie then found i wanted another - but then finally stopped
 
I suck on a piece of hard candy. Its about 10 calories, no fat, and last a good 5 minutes, giving me some flavor. Of course I only have 1 a day, not a whole bag or anything. ;)

I can do that with hard candies, but if it were chocolate thats another story. 1 definitely wouldnt be enough. ;)
 
LOL yeah that was my problem the I thought that ciggarette tasted funny ;) ( total joke I dont even smoke lol)


I bought a lot of skinny treats this week so I hope I can curb them with some good choices now.

If I want something salty, I usually make a bag of popcorn and measure out a small bowl ... I also like Skinny Chips, those are pretty low points too.

If I want something sweet, I usually pull out some Hershey Tastetations. If you suck on them, they last for quite a while. Usually by the time I'm done the first one, I don't want the other two :)

My friend says that she brushes her teeth when she's got a case of the munchies. She says if she eats something right afterwards, it makes the food taste funny and she usually doesn't feel like eating afterwards ... I haven't tried that one yet :p
 
I have a bag of the lightly salted Glenny's Soy Crips. The whole bag is 2 points. Or try lowfat popcorn.

I drink a couple of glasses of water, and I chew on sugar free gum, something strong like Dentyne Fire ( cinnamon) is great. Two pieces have only 5 calories.
 
This probably sounds crazy but.......I have found that brushing my teeth several times a day makes me not want to eat! My thought is who wants to eat when your mouth feels minty clean and fresh...not me.

Those BBQ ones are soooo good! Im addicted. Only problem is my supermarket only has them once in a while. I split up a bag into quarters and have them for lunch 4 days a week. Yummy!
 
An ounce of macadamia nuts, or an ounce of smokehouse almonds. Sometimes an ounce of cheese on a slice of ham spread with mayo and dill relish.

Sometimes a sugar free popsicle :)
 
I love a cup of hot tea to help curb my munchies. :)
 
I found some marshmallows that are only 0.5g Carb each so I let myself have 4 every day - Bit sickly tho as my sweet tooth seems to have vanished now.
