What do you do when its raining at Disney?

We went on the rides too. We only had 1 rainy day last July and it was the best day of the week. When it started to thunder and lighting everyone ran. It started downpouring and everyone else left.

Magic Kingdom was so thinned out. We walked on a bunch of rides. We even rode Splash mountain in the rain. It was awesome and my girls had a blast.

Since the rain passes pretty quickly around there, we use that time to sleep in if it's raining in the morning then go shopping at one of the various outlet malls.

We head to the water parks unless we are already in the "other" parks.
Rain does not keep us away.

we go to the parks as planned.

I am from the PNW -- it's just water you won't melt --- really.

We go with the $5 Walmart ponchos!!! If there's just a chance of rain, we tote around the $ Store ponchos, but if serious rain is in the forecast, we carry the heavier ones. I think the more important question is , 'What shoes to wear in the rain?" I hate wet sneakers and socks, so I wear my Bass Pro Redhead sandals. They dry quickly.

Oh, the original question, We head to the parks in the rain!!!

We were this May when it rained practically all week - we just soldiered on. When we got too wet to be comfortable, we headed to our resort, dried off and warmed up, then went out again later.

We were just leaving DHS for our afternoon break - there had already been a torrential downpour, but the black sky you see behind us was just moving in, and boy, that was a loud one !!

we put on our ponchos and away we go....a little rain doesn't stop us. And of course we wear our crocs in the rain. :)

We haven't actually done the ponchos, although they seem extremely popular. We're in WDW every Feb. and we've never had a whole day of rain, or really heavy rain for more than a few minutes, and never wind and rain together -- we like our golf umbrella. If it's warm enough, the water parks are great because the crowds are so low (guess people don't like getting wet in the water parks :confused3 )

But we also go to the major parks if we had a park day planned.

Put on a poncho and realize that a majority of the things to see and do are inside. The poncho only will keep you from getting soaked between, but with so much to do under cover, go for everything and take advantage of the smaller crowds.

BTW, we usually bring 10-12 ponchos we purchase from a dollar store beforehand. Even though it has been 5 years straight, we still have two of the originals. Rain or no rain, WDW is the place to be

We were also there during Fay last year, and it was the first time there was significant rain on a WDW trip for us. The first day we weren't sure what to do so we made it a resort day. The pool was open most of the time and the lifeguards were doing fun stuff. That encouraged us to give Blizzard Beach a whirl, and that was great...no lines, and we were already wet so when the rain came it was no big deal. The next day we just decided to don the $3 Walmart ponchos and head out to MK...we had a BLAST! There were no lines.

Poncho and out to the Parks,

Epcot and Hollywood Studios are usually good on last trip in May where 24" of rain fell the week we were there we got to ride Mission Space 4 times in 1 hour with a 5 minute wait for both Green and Orange teams

A rainy day at Disney is better than a sunny day anywhere else! (even beats fishing)

My DDs favorite...take off our shoes, throw on ponchos, and keep heading for the rides that are operational (inside)!

We live in NYC, so walking barefoot is a reat treat!:rotfl:

AVOID Disney Quest, because EVERYBODY thought of it!

I agree with all of the above, BUT NO MORE PONCHOS for me. DH had his Columbia rain coat and I had a poncho last trip. He was comfy and all and I was. . .more or less dry, but I looked awful.

I will have a comfy, nice rainjacket with me next visit.

We hit the parks as usual. Doesn't matter what park we were doing that day, we just go to that park. We've got ooooold school yellow Mickey ponchos (from our first trip in '95...) that we wear (I've got a newer one now...I out grew mine). We hit a monsoon our first day this past December trip. The rain was coming down sideways and you couldn't see a foot in front of your face. But we hopped on a bus to HS and did the rides there. Almost no wait for TSM because of the amount of people who left!

Ponchos and go! Last trip we boarded the water taxi at DHS and made the round trip. We loaded up on the outside bench, DD was in her covered stroller with her rain jacket on and napped the entire time. The rain, the boat motor...it was just right for keeping her asleep!

You guys rock! We had perfect weather when we were there in April. I have the sense to know that it won't be the same in September when we go back. I bought my ponchos and rain jacket and it's great that people are so positive! I will head out to the parks too!:grouphug:

There's no reason to do anything but the norm :-)
Like I said in a previous post, we kept positive and did everything we would have done! If you let the rain drag you down, you'll have a terrible time-- not to mention many more people will be in the parks! Last August, the longest line we waited on was 20 minutes.
Oh, and as far as the question about what shoes-- GOOD QUALITY FLIP FLOPS! The Old Navy flip flops have very slippery bottoms, all the more dangerous in the rain, but Reefs have great traction!
